October 16th is the traditional biblical Feast of Sukkot. It is the last and the most joyous celebration of all God’s Feasts.
The earlier feasts celebrate our redemption through the blood of Christ (Passover), his sinless and perfect nature (Unleavened Bread), and his resurrection from the dead (Firstfruits). Fifty days later came the celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost).
There is then a long pause that is as significant as the feasts. The pause is the recognition of the of the Fullness of the Gentiles. This is a time of unknown length between the death of Yeshua and His return. This era will be shattered by the thunderous blasts of the shofar, and the return of Our King (Trumpets). His return in glory is quickly followed by the very somber Feast of Yom Kippur (Atonement). It is a time to seek repentance even as the bowls of God’s judgement are poured out upon the earth. With these six previous feasts in mind, the meaning of the Feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles), becomes clear.
Tabernacles, also called The Feast of Ingathering, is the celebration of the New Jerusalem. All God’s people, both believing Jew and believing Gentile are gathered together and return once again to reside in the Tabernacle of God. Unity is celebrated and all are invited into the Sukkot to join in the celebration. A full and bounteous crop has been gathered, the best of everything has been harvested and all people revel in the very presence of God Almighty.
There are no more biblical feasts, there only remains the continuation of the ingathering throughout all time.
May we all dwell in the House of the Lord forever.
