Which translation below sits best with you and your understanding of James 3:17?

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; ​

submissive, ​

full of mercy and good fruit, ​

Given the context, both versions have strengths and flaws. “Considerate” fits better than “reasonable”, but “teachable” fits better than “submissive”. “Full of… good fruit” makes more sense to me than “divine good production”. I’d check the Greek to determine which is the better translation.

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure and full of quiet gentleness. Then it is peace-loving and courteous. It allows discussion and is willing to yield to others; it is full of mercy and good deeds. It is wholehearted and straightforward and sincere.
Now, I view many versions, and like the Living Bible paraphrased, that has helped me much in my walk of love and mercy to all given me to see clearer than just of me self that loves to get in the way. I hate that part, yet learning new daily by listening and taking all to God in prayer, not anyone else, thank you

And to be honest, it doesn't matter if it suits me or not. It matters what is truth.

Yeah, that's a good reason to read translations in parallel and not stick to just one. You can actually get a better idea of what God is trying to tell you.

Divine good production is about what was done in the filling of the Spirit and being based in sound teaching.

And, besides… Even the most arrogant amongst us believes he has good fruit. Just ask his friends. They'll tell you.

Childlike faith. You don't have to be Jewish or know Hebrew/Greek nor ancient Greek to know to understand what He said in His word. Never in 50y saved in the lord had Him ever tell me what translation to stay away from. Countless times though ya get this thought to see what another translation says or how it was originally written yet even that can be very hard since there is not just one of those. Its faith... I don't wonder what man wrote it. Oh.. yeah I am not ashamed of Christ.. I like the Dake version also.

I love to hear what a Baptist says and what a Word of Faith preacher says. Its His word.. I never tell Him which preacher has the real truth. He does not play that game. Its so simple.. I just don't agree with everything "they" teach. They are seeking studying getting up falling down exactly like me.

Well ... the Albanian translation is not bad ... if you understand the 3 different dialects which even I as an Albanian don't understand.
