Sometimes when breakfast is over at w*rk I will scavenge leftovers.

Yesterday I got four hash brown patties and two eggs and made two sandwiches. That was vegetables and protein, hash browns and eggs.

That's healthy, right? Sounds healthy to me.

Sounds like you got all of the food groups there.

I've never tried cheese, maybe I should. I add butter, salt and pepper.
Never tried...

Is there any other way to eat grits?

Grits should be loaded down with as much cheese as the law will allow. It should be eaten hot, because cold cheese grits is harder than a tire iron.

The next day you can slice and fry cheese grits, like it was ham or something.

I'm sure you know that people eat grits a lot of different ways, and I like them with butter, salt and pepper so much that I may never actually try another way. Sometimes I'll toss a lightly cooked egg on top of the the bowl.

What kind of cheese do you suggest?

I prefer 2/3 cheddar, 1/3 Velveeta. The cheddar flavor covers the Velveeta flavor and the Velveeta emulsifies the cheddar so it all melts in smooth.

But you can use lots of different kinds of cheese. Even havarti, if there is nothing else mixed in with a stronger flavor that covers up the delicate havarti flavor.

And yes, I know people put all kinds of things in grits. But in the south people believe any other additive is only a pale imitation of real cheese grits.

Okay I was just joking. But cheese grits is still pretty good.

Slightly intrigued about grits, never knew what they were until looking it up on Google earlier. Sounds pretty good!

The only thing better than a bowl of cheese grits is two bowls of cheese grits.

And the only thing better than that is a few slices of fried cheese grits the next morning.

I like grits with butter and salt. I used to have them for a side dish often. I probably like cornmeal mush even more, but haven't made any in a long time.
