Sorry, I couldn't see anything in the time out penalty box.
😎
Some of the YouTube channels don't go through; probably don't get financial credit unless you see it directly on YT. It's an old movie before he was Kirk. It's called Kingdom of the Spiders.
To see the other, you have to click the center of the black screen on the previous post.
Oh, haha, I see where to click now :giggle:
I have seen Kingdom of the Spiders a few times! It was actually after he was Kirk, but before he was TJ Hooker.
Being in a kingdom of spiders would be better than Shangri-La to me.
A movie that had a spider scene that I like a lot is Krull. I couldn't wait until it was on tv when I was kid just to see the giant spider lol.

My wife makes a good meatloaf. Uses oatmeal and tops with ketchup.
That's smashing. Oats are amazing. I have canisters of oats everywhere. I love to put oats into anything I can put oats into. I have them every morning. A friend of mine says I'm going to live forever lol.

Lol
I was thinking this movie was before Star Trek because he looked so young. It was also the B movie set that didn't look so post modern as Star Trek.
I should have looked at the release date. Thanks for clarifying. At least he made it outta the movie alive. Lol

I've raised a few varieties of tarantulas, so I can relate. I always found them, if not bizarre at first, interesting. Mexican Red Knees were my favorite.

That's not how I remember it

Tarantulas, and all spiders, are amazing. I think you are the only person I know of that has no fear of them. Of course, you don't seem to have much fear of anything  (not in the critter world, at least)

A glass of water from a waitress is a lot different than the subjects we've been talking about.

For something like that, it's easy to see why a routine answer -- repeated enough times -- would work. Besides, she's got other people to wait on and can't keep asking about someone's unique request all day. But she might be worried about being seen as not giving good service if she doesn't entertain it for at least a few rounds.

It's a lot different for deeper subjects and more complex dynamics. For instance, I like music, but I could take it or leave it, and there are a hundred other things I'd rather spend my time and money on -- but most music lovers wouldn't let it go if I gave that routine answer over and over.

They'd want to know why. But even a detailed answer wouldn't be enough.

And, God bless their well-meaning hearts, they would keep mentioning songs, always trying to convert me.
I think tone is important in getting across to people. Many people try to keep a friendly tone, even if they answer directly. Or use softer wording. Or both.
If I am getting pushed about something I've answered or don't want to give an answer to, my tone changes. Normally I'm a soft spoken person, but when pushed my voice goes very stern, my facial expression is clear and my wording is straight to the point. People can tell immediately I'm not playing. Especially since it's so opposite of how i normally speak.
People will push boundaries sometimes. And those getting pushed too often keep getting pushed for not taking a stronger stand and instead worry about being polite. That person pushing is not being polite, clearly they don't care. It's rare people keep pushing me once I make that switch. And those that don't, I leave behind. They obviously have no respect for others.

If he went onto the Enterprise later, he must've made it is what I was thinking. 😉

My parents were open to me learning about and keeping animals. I found a colorful black widow with racing stripes. Mom was fine with me keeping it in a sealed terrarium, a big gallon jar as a kid. 6thor 7th grade
People often fear what they don't understand. One of the biggest keys to overcoming fear is having an open mind to learning about those scary creatures. That doesn't mean that I don't respect the power of something to harm, like a crocodilian. But once I learn about them and the safety rules, I can choose to identify them, and use the safety rules to be safe.

For example, You must have been able to differentiate between harmless water snakes and venomous ones because you took the effort to learn about them. Your family exposed you to them in a reasonable manner, so you had an advantage over your friends in many things. You enjoyed God's creation, eating fresh fish and have fond memories that can be built upon.

No snacks in the penalty box!!!

Well...

I guess if it's one of the Controversial Foods That Belong in the Lake of Fire, no one's going to argue.:p:cool:

(I'm only teasing about the Vegemite. :) I'd like to try it someday myself.)

Hmm. This puts me in a bit of a dilemma...

Now I'm debating on whether or not I should do something in my own thread to put myself in the Penalty Box just so I can try CarriePie's Vegemite!

I always read ingredient labels. I'm not so sure I want any . Maybe it's something like scrapple or dog slobbers. She didn't seem too thrilled about it to start with. 🤔

Now I'm not practicing what I teach.
I can hold a tarantula but have a suspicion with the ingredient in a song. Hmmm.

I saw it too years ago at Fort Polk, Louisiana while participating in a major war exercise during a rare few hours off. Later, when the games were over and the squad was together, they played another type of movie. I won't go into detail on what that movie was about. I will say however that there was not much of a plot. For both movies actually.

They were trying to get you grunts used to the idea of eating snakes and frogs if you ran outta mres. The critters probably would've been better.

They are asking because they want a tip. If you order a drink, then they expect a tip, especially if they can provide a refill. If you are eating alone, they will often ignore you because they don't think they'll get a tip or as much as if you were with your gal.

Being exposed to the great outdoors at a young age is important, in my viewpoint. I was fortunate to have parents and grandparents that exposed me to the outdoors and wildlife at a very early age. They'd have even been repulsed if I hadn't taken a liking to the outdoors and critters. My mother was taking me to her favorite swimming hole in the country when I was a baby and she didn't put my playpen inside, it was always outside. We lived near the woods.
Dad influenced me to have an interest in spiders and insects, so when I started school I was out looking for creepy crawlies instead of playing in the playground. Then I'd bring them into class
I thought this way of life was normal back then. As I got older I started to realize that a lot of people didn't have that exposure. I think it's sad for them, and many think it's sad for me lol.

But I won't listen to country music.

But I won't drink coffee.

But I won't get Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.
I just recently stopped drinking coffee. It completely highjacked my sleep schedule. Now it seems like I’m permanently stuck this way…

I never drank it. I'm often vocal about my disdain for how coffee tastes on here haha.
The caffeine didn't really affect me though.
Probably not permanent. You just need to give your body a chance to readjust itself. Especially if you drank coffee for a long time.
Also your body and mind form habits. They need to be broken. The best way is to form new habits to give your brain a different direction to go.
Set up a pre sleep schedule that you do nightly. This helps train your mind and body to know when its time to sleep. For example taking a quick shower to relax in, then reading for a set time while in bed.
So when you do these actions consistently before bed your mind and body know to prepare to enter sleep mode.

That's awesome! Your parents and mine have blessed us with wonderful experiences. How I look forward to thanking them when I see them again.

I was just listening to Alex Jones who reminded me of this. He is a swimmer too. He just talked about his enjoyment of swimming with the alligator gar at night in the river!
How's that for a "coincidence?"
God has an amazing way of bringing things together to let us know of His kind gifts like these.

That is so smashing to read! Warms my heart.

I look forward to seeing my dad. My family wasn't religious, but my dad was a believer. Most of my family were evolutionist, but not my dad. And although he was a different kind of creationist than I am, I believe it was his gentle encouragement toward creationism when I first started school that planted the seed in my childhood toward creationism. I mention creationism because that is what I believe makes how I feel out in the wilds come alive.

I've spent a lot of time in and on the creek out in the Osage. The area where I spent a lot of time over the years is full of gar and all kinds of other fish, plus water snakes and copperheads. The only thing that has ever happened to me over the years is perch biting at my hind end, which they always do lol. There is a special feeling one gets when being in the outdoors that many people are missing. I've gone on hikes several times by myself and I think those times were absolutely necessary for my well being.

The Meals Ready To Eat suck. LRPS (Long Range Patrol Rations) were not much better. I was actually a mechanic in an artillery battalion serving in the 101st Airborne Division in preparation for war. Spent 3 miserable weeks there at Fort Polk in August. Rained once for 5 minutes. Lots of skeeters. The highlight was the beer and skin flicks on the last night before departing for Fort Campbell, KY. I guess that I was a bad boy back then. Beer was cold though.

I look forward to seeing my mom, dad, and younger brother again. And my little dog Yankee too. When he sees his daddy again his little tail will be wagging wildly. We will have a good time then.

My apologies Sir.
You were no grunt. You are an Airborne Ranger ! 🫡
My highest respect for the Rangers.
I was honored to be chosen as an ROTC Ranger Company candidate under Col. Fisher until a serious injury disabled my leg. I completed the training but couldn't heal fast enough to run for PT. That disqualified me, but fondest memories and respect for the officers.

The important thing was that your heart was in the right place and that you gave it your all. I commend you for that.
