There is a progression that people take
This is a really good bible teacher -- not cult like but, strange way to put it since only God is good.
This is the best bible teacher I ever heard -- That is your opinion, your testimony, so fair enough. But you are taking the same path that the disciples took when they were arguing which among them was the first. This lacks the revelation that Paul prayed for in Ephesians when we could see the "riches of the glory of His inheritance in all the saints".
This is the greatest Bible scholar -- In my opinion this steps on the line. You are fully in the camp of the disciples arguing about who is the greatest. If you clarify that this is your opinion it softens the foot fault, but without that clarification it is obviously foolish on several counts. It is not up to you to determine who sits on the right hand of Jesus, that is what the Lord said. It is for His father to make this determination if it is even to be made. So you have overstepped your bounds, but even worse, it is foolish since you have not studied every single bible scholar.
Greatest bible scholar of this present age. Nobody compares. -- This is not just stepping on the line, this completely crosses the line. This implies it is a waste of time to listen to others and that is the very first thing that cults do, they try to cut you off from others. If I take ten Bible scholars all teaching the Bible and opening up the scripture then they all compare because they are all teaching the word of God. "Nobody compares" is a direct contradiction to the faith once for all delivered to the saints. We all have received one Spirit. There are many Bible teachers who are ministering that one Spirit. If this man isn't then it is a cult and if he is then it compares to all the others. One God and Father, one Lord, one faith. Is that what he is teaching? Then it compares to many others, if not then it is a cult. In the body there are many members, each one has a function. No one member is supposed to be the "greatest". If a body part grows abnormally large that is cancer. We do not have one ear, we have two. We do not have one eye, we have two. We don't have one hand, we have two, same with our feet. To say that "no one compares" then how could I discern? Paul was a great Bible teacher, but we needed Peter to give his testimony concerning him. Paul went on ministry journeys, but not alone, always with other brothers, and they were all necessary.
This will lead to
"He has the vision for the present age" -- Full blown cult. The vision for the present age is the fellowship of the Apostles.
Which leads to
He has a special anointing -- The word anointing is the word for Christ, this is what the Lord warned about many false Christs.
Your statement stepped over the line. Your statement clearly is in the camp that every cult is in. All the denominations divided over this. Bringing division to the Body of Christ is horrible. Every good gift is from above. Simply give credit to the Lord Jesus. Your statement smacked of strife and vainglory and esteemed others lower than him, not better.
1 Corinthians 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
