I guess going by certain standards anything could be considered a sin. Some people like to poke at coffee. When it comes to coffee, I drink as much as I like whenever I like and I thank the Lord for having provided me with coffee!

my mug is a white styrofoam cup. when one starts to get discolored, it is tossed out for a fresh one!!!
I'm one of those coffee snobs these days. Although, I couldn't pass up a bag of light roast at $2.50.
Try a glass, stainless, and ceramic mug and taste if you can tell the difference. If your coffee isn't too flavored, you will likely taste the polyurethane chemicals.
One of my pastors used to preach against coffee.
He wasn't even a Mormon, a Jehovah false Witness or a 7th Day Adventist.
That's one reason why the men would bring up his chocolate habit.
Chocolate was ok, but coffee was a sin.

I don't understand why some worry so much about whether others are drinking too much coffee, listening to certain music, wearing certain clothes, and on and on and on. I just don't bother about these petty things. Now, I'm going to go brew some coffee.

Sorry I didn't explain. When I reread my post I might not have been clear.
The cleaner and more inert the container, the more your taste buds start detecting chemicals. When you ingest chemicals, the body gets accustomed to them.
Once I got a British Berkefeld Royal Berkey purifier a long time ago, my tap water started tasting awful. However, my health improved. There's not a hospital full of medical Drs in the country who would have figured out the cause of my health problems. They could have charged a hundred thousand dollars for tests and drugs/ chemicals and only made me worse.
Rather than going that miserable route, I used my own God given taste buds, personal records, and the knowledge God Himself provided to cure what ailed me. He gets the credit as the great physician.
Next, when using glass or ceramic (no lead glaze) mugs, eventually you will taste styrofoam as your built in detector gets recalibrated for those polyurethane chemicals. For non lead mugs, buy American made. Chinese is too risky.
Stainless has the benefits of durability if you use it for traveling, but the first two are best.

There are so many health benefits related to coffee and it's be widely studied. Just drink and let it be I say.
Not a sin as, long as it is not decaf. This was covered thoroughly in the current Special Place in Hell for certain foods. I believe that it is currently #3 on the list (subject to change).
I was just poking fun at the issue because we all know that too much chocolate isn't healthy for our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit.

If you don't mind me adding, I have yet to find a problem with using a pure stevia as sweetener. I have not used it for months or molasses, but those are a couple healthier options as opposed to all artificial sweeteners. Although some NDs and nutritionists advise against daily use of any sweeteners. I fall in that category, and like coconut oil to help the flavor and health benefits.
A quality vitamin/ mineral supplement should be taken regularly especially when drinking coffee since it's a diuretic. I recommend them at meals for increased absorption.

Those religions look at coffee as taboos. I don't see their POV as being Biblical. My former pastor had some unbiblical opinions as a Baptist. I considered his teaching and disregarded anything that didn't hold up to Scripture. I could overlook that little disagreement. I could not overlook his acceptance or promotion of false gospels.
Whatever we do that harms the body is not good, but I'm not convinced that coffee is harmful when used properly. The high use of pesticides is the worst thing about it.
Too much caffeine can become harmful and mess up adrenal functions, wash out minerals and cause insomnia. There's healthy ways to enjoy it though. I had too much at times when Mom was in the hospital because I was going home late, not sleeping much and eventually it started stressing me out on top of the other stressors. I decided to not drink it when I was extremely stressed and had adrenal fatigue recently. I've gotten calmer and less depressed so I drink 2-3 cups most mornings for now.
One triple strength hand drip cup first thing in the morning, then a strong expresso chaser 45mins/hour later.Me too. Then two more cups mid-morning. And maybe a cup at lunchtime.
Then bfast at 9-ish AM.
Then a strong expresso booster noonish.
All organic whole roasted beans that I grind fresh daily. Light roast is the only way to go.
I like my coffee man.
I think it affects everyone differently. Some people seem to be much more sensitive to it, some people moderately sensitive, and others it doesn't bother at all. I don't seem to be bothered by it. I've done some detoxes from coffee to see what the difference was. I didn't notice any difference personally, but I do believe everyone is different.
