I wanted to listen to heavy metal type music. I wanted to get metallica, but just read something on christian chat forums that changed my mind about it. I read on google that most if not all christian heavy metal bands are really satanist. Is there any true christian heavy metal bands?
I started listening to Christian 34 years ago. I mostly did so until a few years ago. I don't listen to many new bands anymore, but pulp out old ones sometimes.
Some people are sensationalists. Some religious. Some find evil in everything they dislike. And all those people like to make their opinion the only truth.
When I was younger and going to concerts I saw a lot of preaching on stage, even in secular venues. I'd see some people worshipping at the shows. Or encouraging people to talk to them after they show if they wanted to learn more.
Some of the bands make their lyrics very obvious and maybe a bit preachy even. Others take less direct approaches.
Is every person in every Christian band a Christian? Probably not. Are all that are Christians perfect? Absolutely not.
But being in a Christian band isn't exactly a money maker. Most modern Christian bands can't keep up with their secular counterparts. Adding in the traditional bias against Christian bands from the secular market resulting in a lack of ever getting very big, isn't exactly a big selling point to fake it.
Listen for yourself. Decide for yourself. If you decide it's not for you, no problem. That's your perogative. If you get something out of it. Great. Then continue.
My personal experience with it, especially as a teen, was that I learned about the bible from it. Got encouraged by it. Had fun at their concerts. Met some cool people at the shows. And learned more about the world around me and the struggles people faced. Even tried to make some bands myself, back then.
Most Christian Metallica influenced bands are from the 90s, before the Black album.
