I was wondering if people would like to share their insights about things they do or think that are a little different from the mainstream. Topics can be frivolous or serious. For example, when I weigh myself and I put my first foot on the scale and it shows I'm already at my ideal weight, I don't bother to put my other foot on the scale...I have already accomplished my goal.

After being told in another thread that there is a special place in hell for those who like Miracle Whip (of which I happen to partake in,) a CC friend asked how I used it.

I only use the contemptuous condiment for tuna salad. The thing is, I Don't. Like. Mayonnaise. in any way, shape, or form -- it always smells/tastes like rotting eggs to me -- yet for some reason, I like using a modest amount of Miracle Whip with tuna and crunchy vegetables (I then use it in a regular lettuce or spinach salad rather than on a sandwich.)

Furthering my oddball stance, I don't eat things that make mayo side dishes a staple for most people. For some reason, I don't like chicken, potato, or other salads made with it. And you'll never catch me putting mayo (or Miracle Whip either, for that matter,) on my sandwiches.

I love sandwiches/burgers, but at the risk of inflaming a whole other controversy, I like my sandwiches/burgers DRY. NO condiments, sauce, spread, oil, dressing... NOTHING but good-old fashioned meat, cheese, shredded lettuce, and other assorted vegetables (but NOT raw tomatoes -- I don't like the flavor and they're WAY too mushy.)

We all have things we dread in life. For me, one of those things is a soggy sandwich.

I can't stand a water-logged bun or bread that closely resembles a used kitchen sponge -- YUCK. Even though everything is smashed together, one of the things I enjoy about a sandwich is having all the individual textures pressed together yet still succinctly detectable, and that includes the pillowy-ness of the bread or bun, which gets ruined when covered in multi-layers of slop.

So, everyone else can have as many and as much moisture-laden additions as they want to their sandwiches, that's fine.

But a for me, I'll be sitting in the naughty chair (for those who like things a little weird,) happily enjoying my perfectly DRY, but thoroughly DELICIOUS sandwich.

On a more serious note, I rarely find myself worried or upset. The reason is that there remains a rest for the people of God...Hebrews 4:1-11. This rest is not found in a day or a philosophy, but a person...Matthew 11:28-30. It is an all encompassing rest. It is a rest not only from wrath and the penalty of sin, but also a rest from hardships and difficulties of life.
I believe the majority of God's people know the first, but struggle with the second. I believe the reason for this is because we aren't put in a bubble immediately after being saved, and we continue to experience sorrow, hurt, betrayal, and all manner of unpleasant experiences. But even in the midst of all of this, there remains a rest for the people of God.

This is my different take...

Normally, when opening or closing the lids on jars, you hold the jar and tighten the lid.
I hold the lid and spin the jar. Its just something I do.

Before I travel to a foreign country that uses a different language, I always learn and practice basic greetings. I believe it shows respect when you greet someone in their own language when visiting. It also helps to not be seen as an "arrogant American."

Have you ever considered securing the lid and walking in a circle to close it?

Might as well embrace it and make a joke out of it at this point.
I've always dreamed of going to France one day dressed with American flag cowboy boots, American flag pants, American flag shirt, and an American flag cowboy hat and speak loudly with a thick Texan accent when i land at the airport "HEY WHERE IT THE NEAREST MACDONALD AROUND HERE".
Thing is i have no desire to go to France so it will be a dream. But one day ... you never know.

You better check your dream. In Texas they say either "Howdy" or "hay", but never "hey".

If you ever do...

I want to see video evidence (and of the people's reactions,) or at least pictures!

I went to France once, a very long time ago, but did my best to just be a civilized (as much as I could manage) tourist.

If I would have tried pulling off your stunt though, perhaps I would have won double, triple, quadruple bonus points -- for being an Asian who tried to pass herself off as an American Texan cowgirl (how would that even work?!)

Never mind that I am from the north.

Yee Haw!! 🤠🐎👢

I just read this post out loud to a Southern friend, and she dryly replied, "I don't think anyone should go ANYWHERE dressed like that (let alone France.)":ROFL::ROFL:

This is exactly why it should be done.
It's just that ... again...i have no desire to go to France or England for that matter but i'd do it, after i take some training on how to speak like a proper Texan of course.

Egg White is a main ingredient in making mayo, and substituting mayo in a cake recipe will result in the moistest cake ever. If you tried a piece, you'd be like, "how...did you make this...so...?!" And then you'd be like, "...what?!" and I'd would be like, "What? Yea...that's what."

I do prefer Miracle Whip over Mayo for sandwiches but make an exception to that rule for Waldorf salad.

I would love to visit France or England, after practicing speaking Merican but with either a French or English accent and, appropriately, would adjust my accent accordingly to any other country I visited.
