I agree about the not to worry reference.

Our heavenly father knows that we need certain things to survive and even thrive, such as clothing, food, shelter, etc. My contention is that these seemingly small things are indeed most important in the eyes of God.

The prodigal son reference is that it is indeed appropriate, at given times, to dress accordingly.

As I said in a previous comment, I have never said that it is not important in the eyes of God, in fact as you have said, there are certain occasions and places in which one has to be dressed according to the occasion. I said that too.

The only thing I have said since the first comment I made, is that I do not believe that the way you dress to go to he church has more importance in the eyes of God than what you carry in your heart in church.

Does dressing in your Sunday best discourage those that don't have a Sunday best, or the homeless, or someone who is not appropriately dressed at the time of service? Does God even care how a person is dressed? The answer I hear most often is "We do it out of respect". It seems to me that just showing up shows respect and honor. I'm talking about normal conservative attire, not crazy, revealing ones.
As long as your clothed with Christ, you will be accepted.

I agree with you on this.

normal people aren't that picky and there isn't a ton about it in the bible. Of course that doesn't mean someone won't complain and start an issue over nothing.

" Sunday Best" only has to be modest dress for women and men. If your Sunday best brings more attention to you than to Christ....

You may be wearing your Sunday Mess.
