I wondered what Trump would do to push the terrible story about his desecration of Arlington National Cemetery out of the headlines, and perhaps this is it?

At an event in Michigan yesterday, Trump said: ""I am announcing today that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for all costs associated with IVF treatment".

I guess then if Obamacare's mandates = communism, that makes Trump a communist?

But the biggest news was that he told a reporter backstage that he does not support a ban on abortions after 6 weeks, and said “I think the six weeks is too short, there has to be more time. I’ve told them I want more weeks.”

Then after being asked how he will vote on the state’s November ballot initiative to overturn their ban on abortions after 6 weeks, he said, “I’m going to be voting that we need more than six weeks.

So much for Trump being pro-life. He plans to vote to overturn Florida's ban on abortion after 6 weeks.

Hi @JayBird

Yes, pretty much like most of his promises and 'convictions', they tend to change with the direction the wind is blowing.

He's behind in the polls and falling fast. His rallies are sparsely attended and have become stale. He's getting desperate.

It's odd though to see him apparently think that flipping to a pro-choice position will help him.

Hey @JayBird

Well, I think his convictions have always been based on what's best for his future. Just like his association with the truth is based solely on what he believes the truth to be. Or, in the case of his butler's account, it's just what he wants others to believe.

Yep, and judging by the lack of replies from the Trump supporters here, one could get the impression that they aren't as pro-life as they claimed. Apparently abortions past 6 weeks are just fine as long as Trump says so.

I concede that I wish Trump was more pro-life than his stance. He is fighting for more weeks, I believe, because the left is using "reproductive rights" against him. I think Trump should double-down, not soften his stance on pro-life. I DO have to give the devil his due in selecting SCJ which gave authority back to the states. It's not as far as I'd like, but it's definitely preferrable than how it was before.

As for his die-hard supporters on here, they aren't as pro-life as they claim either. They have one standard for unborn children and DO want to protect them but another standard for Palestinian children who are unnecessarily blown up by the IDF. In their fake outrage, they shift the blame not at the entity indiscriminately blowing them up but to Hamas alone. I understand "pro-life" implies being against abortion, but I take it quite literally as being pro life... even outside the womb.

Thanks for your very well written and thoughtful post. (y)

I can't help but wonder how many other values Trump will force his die-hard followers to abandon. Sexual morality was among the first, with justice, law and order, and supporting the police not far behind. Now it's support for our troops and even pro-life.

To effect positive change in a pro-life movement he first has to get elected. Positive change affirming life will come in incremental steps.

Trump is doing his best to elect Harris.

I'm going out on a limb. I predict that Trump will deliver the worst debate performance of his lifetime.

Fully pro life with no exceptions is not popular. He will lose all the swing states.

There was nothing terrible about it. The families asked him to be there and the photographer had permission. It's much ado about nothing.
At an event in Michigan yesterday, Trump said: ""I am announcing today that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for all costs associated with IVF treatment".
The government has no business being involved in medical care. He's wrong here.
I guess then if Obamacare's mandates = communism, that makes Trump a communist?
No. One socialist policy doesn't make the person a communist.
But the biggest news was that he told a reporter backstage that he does not support a ban on abortions after 6 weeks, and said “I think the six weeks is too short, there has to be more time. I’ve told them I want more weeks.”
He's wrong here too. Six weeks is too long, it should be zero.
Then after being asked how he will vote on the state’s November ballot initiative to overturn their ban on abortions after 6 weeks, he said, “I’m going to be voting that we need more than six weeks.
Fortunately the bill has no chance of passing.
So much for Trump being pro-life. He plans to vote to overturn Florida's ban on abortion after 6 weeks.
Fortunately, he said he will leave it to the states, which is where it belongs.

The difference between you and me is I can criticize my candidate where it's needed. Your unfailing worship of Kamala doesn't allow you to do that.

Trump is still a billion times better than Harris.

A commie IVF plan will never materialize: he's proposing a radical IVF policy to expose the people who are lying about his position on IVF. He also came out and clarified that he is voting "no" on the proposed amendment to the 6 week ban.

There is no spoon.

Trump announced his administration would support abortion by supporting IVF, and force insurance companies to pay for it. Wait, aren't the Republicans supposed to be the champions of the free market?

For those who may not be up to speed on the IVF issue: When IVF is performed, many eggs are fertilized at the same time to reduce costs. Many of them won't be used so they're either frozen or destroyed. If life begins at conception, then what you have are many, many unborn babies being held in freezers or tossed in the garbage.

The Trump administration will now support this and will force insurance companies to pay for it. At least that was his position yesterday; who knows what it'll be today.

I agree, it's not popular. Nevertheless, I would rather deal with the people hating my pro-life stance than stand before God explaining my softening of my pro-life position.

Trump does not even have to bring up abortion at this time. What he will do in office is when he actually gets there. There are a whole bunch of Leftists who have moved into Florida, and are trying to make it another Leftist stronghold. The DMV in Florida -- which works for the government -- is illegally processing driver's license for illegal migrants before the office opens. How come DeSantis did not see this happening and fire the whole staff?

Since abortion is not a Constitutional right, it is not a federal matter, and Trump should let the states decide and stay out of this matter. He said that once already, but why doesn't he keep hammering that home? Then he says that abortions during the first six week (as in Florida) are OK, when they are not OK at all. Killing babies can never be OK.

Trump opens his mouth many times without even thinking that every word he says will either work for him or against him. Even some of his comments about the Secret Service, Kamala, etc. could easily be misunderstood, even by those who might give him the benefit of the doubt.

Hi @Nehemiah6

As I've often said, he isn't a particularly smart man. He's just a bully with lots of money and thus, lots of power given him because of his wealth and TV personality. But as a leader? Nope!

Vote wisely folks. It may mean a lot to the future of our democracy.

He first said he was against the six weeks deadline and thought fifteen weeks, three weeks shy of mid-term was better on September 17th,2023 in the Meet The Press interview with Kristin Welker. Very few people listen to what he actually says or when but choose to insert the things they hope he meant instead in it's place but he has said this since back before he was the official nominee and DeSantis,Haley,Pence and the others were till trying to become the Republican nominee.
