Conceptualize nauseousness, while never having a sick day in your life, and no other person is alive but you.
You don't have to experience something, you simply have to know what something is. I have never experienced life in Russia but I can read about it and understand it because I know life and what it is to be human.
We cannot imagine anything without first having some knowledge upon which to build. Only God can create out from nothing. Adam had to have some knowledge regarding death, if only a dead leaf, in order to comprehend the command fully and know that death was bad. After all, what would have been the attraction to the fruit if Adam already knew good from evil?
I never said it wasn't, but Adam had no concept of death. I could have told my kids "don't touch the hot stove or you will flumigate". They knew hot, they knew touch and they knew no. That was enough for them to obey.
It's why we walk by faith.
That is easy. If it's only me I would be the one who made up the word. It would mean whatever I said.
Now conceptualize death given God says it results from disobedience.

What difference the consequences? We should obey God because of who He is not because of the consequences. It is completely irrelevant for Adam to know what death is in order to obey. If He had loved God, he would have loved His word and obeyed the command whether he knew what death was or not. I believe God deliberately withheld understanding of death in order to get this point across to us.
If we are only obeying because we fear bad consequences if we don't obey? We are not walking by faith.
Yes, but it would be based on something you already knew. You cannot create from nothing.
You keep thinking from a perspective, one that Adam was created into the fallen world we now live in.
No I'm not. I'm saying it is impossible not to conceptualize. The fact that God gave the commandment that included death, it was impossible given the introduction of the concept not to conceptualize.

I am new so having learned the art of posting and responding to certain posts.
Anyway, when it comes to a question like that, some denominations say you can. I don't belong to any church denomination, so in other words, I search the Bible and form my own beliefs. Too many people just swallow what a pastor or church says. I firmly believe you need to pray and search your heart. That said, God is full is Love and Mercy. He doesn't want anyone to be lost. If you accepted Jesus and asked him into your heart, then You need to follow HiM in the best way we can. This doesn't mean we won't backslide, I know I have many times in my 73 years but I always come back and am reassured of His love. You always need to ask for forgiveness and stop doing something if you know it is wrong.. All the scripture listed here is a good start.

The fact is, we have no idea what Adam's concept of death was. We have no record of what God revealed to Adam. All this over something that is unimportant. I was just seeing how long you would do an exercise in futility. Evidently as long as you have company.
