Hey Everyone,
I was thinking about this topic as I'm rushing around trying to do last minute chores for the day.
Like most people, I don't exactly like cleaning the bathroom, but was taught to do so in an almost primitive way: first, you filled the sink with water and Pine Sol, then, using rubber gloves and an old rag as your only tool, used that mixture to hand-wash EVERYTHING (including the inside of the toilet.) After the toilet bowl was flushed, it was then scrubbed (again, by hand) with Bon Ami, then flushed again and left off with one more Pine Sol cocktail to catch any lingering germs. Bathroom mirrors were then carefully polished with Windex as the finishing touch.
And my mother still cleans her bathrooms this exact same way.
I, on the other hand, have fully embraced "modern" wonders such as Clorox wipes, cleaning sprays (no more mixing Pine Sol in the sink,) various scrubbing tools, and most especially, brushes -- let me tell you, long-handled toilet brushes are a gift from God!
How about you?
* What chores and tasks do you really, REALLY not like doing -- to the point where you try to rope OTHER people into doing them if possible? These tasks can be anything home, work, or even church related. Are there things at work you conveniently "leave" for other co-workers?
* What is it that you dislike so much about these tasks?
* When you were growing up, what chores were seen as especially bad punishments? What were the ones you always tried to make your siblings do instead?
* In your own family now, do you have your kids do some of the tasks you dislike most? When your kids/family disagree on who should do what, how is it settled?
Just for fun, I'm going to write a poll where we can see everyone's answers.
However, the poll choices are always limited and can't possible include everything, so please come back here and tell us all about the things you don't like doing!
