Hey Everyone,

I was thinking about this topic as I'm rushing around trying to do last minute chores for the day.

Like most people, I don't exactly like cleaning the bathroom, but was taught to do so in an almost primitive way: first, you filled the sink with water and Pine Sol, then, using rubber gloves and an old rag as your only tool, used that mixture to hand-wash EVERYTHING (including the inside of the toilet.) After the toilet bowl was flushed, it was then scrubbed (again, by hand) with Bon Ami, then flushed again and left off with one more Pine Sol cocktail to catch any lingering germs. Bathroom mirrors were then carefully polished with Windex as the finishing touch.

And my mother still cleans her bathrooms this exact same way.

I, on the other hand, have fully embraced "modern" wonders such as Clorox wipes, cleaning sprays (no more mixing Pine Sol in the sink,) various scrubbing tools, and most especially, brushes -- let me tell you, long-handled toilet brushes are a gift from God!

How about you? :)

* What chores and tasks do you really, REALLY not like doing -- to the point where you try to rope OTHER people into doing them if possible? These tasks can be anything home, work, or even church related. Are there things at work you conveniently "leave" for other co-workers?

* What is it that you dislike so much about these tasks?

* When you were growing up, what chores were seen as especially bad punishments? What were the ones you always tried to make your siblings do instead?

* In your own family now, do you have your kids do some of the tasks you dislike most? When your kids/family disagree on who should do what, how is it settled?

Just for fun, I'm going to write a poll where we can see everyone's answers. :)

However, the poll choices are always limited and can't possible include everything, so please come back here and tell us all about the things you don't like doing! :p

I hate mowing. Unfortunately it is up to me to mow here.

When I retire I'm going to live on a plot of ground with gravel over the entire premises. I will spray weed killer on anything green that pops its head up.

I dislike ironing. All clothes should be wrinkle free.

Socks never wrinkle. Has anyone ever considered making all clothes out of the same material as socks?

Ever get a hole in your sock?

There's a reason socks are always hidden from view by pants and shoes.

Imagine getting a hole in a much more critical area!

These days clothing with holes in it (like blue jeans) costs more than those which are intact... I can hear Robin now... "Holy fashion, Batman!"

Aren't the holes caused by toe nails that need clipping or overuse. How many pairs of socks do you have compared to shirts?
Plus, socks spend a considerable amount of time in shoes. Given all the forces warring against socks, I believe they are under valued.

Cameron does seem to have a heart for the underdogs.

This has me thinking of the 3 individual socks I had send to footery heaven this past week. And when I think about it...

I can't think of a SINGLE pair of socks I've ever had to throw away because of holes in the front. Every sock casualty I've ever suffered was from holes on the bottom.

How many people have to throw away socks because of holes in the FRONT of the sock?!

I mean, unless they have feet like this:

Or this:

Or, heaven forbid, are styling their toenails like this:

I just don't understand how anyone winds up with holes in the front of their socks, rather than on the bottom??! :oops:o_O:unsure:

I have to agree with you, Lady Magenta. If money were no object, I would be happy to hire a maid (or...) What would be the proper term for a masculine maid?
This reminds me of the time several years ago when I was visiting a friend's family at a summer resort.

Her kids wanted to participate in a crafting activity that was held inside a cabana right near the pool. We all picked out animal-shaped piggy banks to paint, and I chose an elephant -- which I still have. (He might be an elephant but he's still a piggy bank, so I call him "Ham.")

I "lamented" (jokingly) to her the whole time that I could be out trying to get a date with a cute pool boy -- but no, here I was painting colorful polka dots on a ceramic elephant instead.

(I just checked, and "Ham" even has a commemorative date -- 2013.)

Wow, am I ever getting old.

And I think I might change my avatar to Ham for a little while, just because I smile whenever I think of that day.

I do the mowing too. It is not a task that I look forward to. Yeah, I hate it too.

Yeah, that. My socks always get a hole in the heel.

So I looked up what kind of fabric socks are made of. I didn't get a conclusive answer. Nothing like gabardine or Tweed or twill...

Then I looked up shirts made out of socks to see if anybody has used sock material to make a shirt...

!!!

o_O

Do not ever, ever, ever look that up! Apparently it is a thing to take socks apart and use them to make rather risque looking shirts. Especially do not look it up while you are at work.

I would have thought it was some sturdy kind of cotton. Thanks for taking one for the team.

I am at work, but leaving soon... and I risked looking up clothes made from socks...

This is what I found:
