Do you guys keep the dietary laws of Leviticus 11? I believe it is smart to do so, not because we are REQUIRED to, but because God as the creator knows what is most profitable for us to eat when it comes to meats. The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, I know. All im asking you guys is: Do you personally keep the dietary laws? Do you think it is beneficial?`I sure do. Lots of bad things have happened in history including many pandemics due to eating unclean meats.
I'm from the Southeastern U.S., and bacon, country ham, and sausage is what I was raised on. I recall for Sunday dinner after Church at my aunt's house, we'd have fried chicken and roast beef for dinner (lunch), but for supper around 5 P.M. we'd have a breakfast type meal, eggs and homemade biscuits, country ham, sawmill gravy, and coffee for desert.
Thing is about pork though, is that God created the pig, or hog as a scavenger animal to cleanse the earth. It keeps the garbage in its system that it collects from scavenging the earth, and has no sweat glands to release poisons. Even a rattlesnake won't kill a hog. All this is why pork is not on God's clean meats list.
I love crab, lobster, shrimp, clams, etc., i.e., shellfish. They are all scavengers that live on the bottom of the sea designed as cleaners. Same thing for catfish, a bottom scavenger fish. All those are not on God's clean meats list, again because He designed them to cleanse the earth.
What's a buzzard do? It's a scavenger bird, designed to cleanse the earth.
Now what is most often taught in the Church is that by prayer all... meats are suddenly made miraculously clean. That's simply not how Paul meant that (1 Timothy 4:3). What he meant was that by thanksgiving to God, it was to be accepted 'spiritually', but it did NOT mean the unhealthy meat miraculously was made clean by prayer. That scavenger meat is still bad for our flesh body.
Now Apostle Paul also told us to eat whatever is sold in the shambles (market), not complaining. In other words, do eat to live, and if invited to dinner at a nonbeliever's house, eat what is put before you, unless you know it was offered to an idol, then reject it and tell the non-believer why. Otherwise, eat and don't offend them.
This is about our Liberty in Christ Jesus to eat outside God's health list. Doesn't mean our flesh body will be healthy by eating outside God's list though. Unhealthy food is not... suddenly made clean by prayer. It is made as spiritually acceptable.
