That Pelsoi told a sitting elected president he HAD to step down because she felt he was going to lose. She doesn't get to make that choice!
Hi
@ThereRoseaLamb
No, of course she doesn't get to make that choice, but as a leader in the democratic party who has stood in one of the top positions of the legislative branch of our government, she has every right to make her understanding known to the president. As far as I know that's all she did. I wasn't actually privy to the conversation. Were you? You do realize that politicians talk to each other... right? I mean, that's literally what most of politicking is about. Talking to each other and working out issues and compromises in order to legislate the laws of our nation. Right?
Nancy Pelosi helped pressure Joe Biden to end his 2024 campaign (nbcnews.com)
Mrs. Pelosi has been serving our country for many, many years as the top democrat in the House. She has the right, due to her having great knowledge of the process and having worked with many, many democratic campaigns to tell the president her thoughts on the matter. I wouldn't be surprised if Pres. Biden didn't ask for her understanding of the outcome of the campaign. The above article says that she did warn him that the way things were going, especially after his debate performance, that his campaign could possibly not only effect his future, but the future of down ballot choices. Yes, the woman has every right to tell the president how she sees things. But ultimately, the decision was his and I believe it was the right decision.
I have, even before the bad debate performance, held that Pres. Biden wasn't going to be the standing choice when it came to the November election. But dropping out of such a race isn't something that one does lightly. Like getting the job of president is the same as getting a job of toilet cleaner at McDonalds. There's a lot of money at stake and a lot of effort by a lot of people that has to be considered and will weigh on such a decision.
I believe he did the right thing. Whether it was because of Mrs. Pelosi's encouragement or not, I believe he made the right choice in the matter. I honestly don't understand why it's such a big issue to you that Mrs. Pelosi seems to have been working to get the president to step out of the race. Why does that matter to you? Is this a part of your government control conspiracy theories. Is the cry of the republicans now going to be, if they lose, well we would have won if Mrs. Pelosi hadn't 'forced' Pres. Biden to quit the race. Is that what this is all about. You really need somebody to be mad at!!
God bless and vote wisely,
Ted
