Every once in a while I see a few posts with questions about a sermon that someone listed to. I just watched this sermon from Dr Tony Evans about unity. It's a great sermon and fits with what's going on in today's world. It is 45 min long though. I'm going to include a link. Not sure if I can but going to try. All his videos on his website takes you to YouTube though. Link below

Hey @Kyless123

I respect Tony as a teacher, but I'm not sure that this message is well considered. He seems to be referencing the national division of the country. But his point is that Jesus prayed that those of us who believe on him, that's not the nation, that's just those of us who are believers, should be one. I agree. Unfortunately, Jesus also spoke of the day of judgment, and he tells 'many' christians that they aren't a part of him.

So, while the message is great about us being unified, that's only for those who are following Jesus and not all of those who go to worship services on Sunday. Further, I'm not one that believes that as a nation, we are a 'christian' nation. We just have some born again believers that live here. Pretty much like many other nations. Great Britain gives great allowance for God in their governmental processes. Many, many nations give a nod to God, as does the United States government, in their founding ideology. But no nation is a christian nation.

Pastors need to be above reproach.

I like Tony, but this is concerning.

A megachurch pastor in Texas has stepped down from his congregation after nearly 50 years while confessing to committing a mystery “sin.” Dr. Tony Evans, 74, resigned as the lead pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas on Sunday, breaking the news to his followers in a statement on the church’s website.

Really. That's concerning. I saw that the video was from the archives and was wondering if he was still there or not. The church website says falling short of scripture which must be some kind of sin. I never like hearing pastors stepping down like this. There was another one that stepped down a few months ago. Can't remember who it was but he did something with a girl many years ago. They teach that God forgives sin but if they did something they can't forgive themselves of that's probably a big issue. How is a church going to find a "perfet pastor" when no one is perfect. Why would a non believer want to become a believer when they hear about well recognized pastors stepping down because of a sin?
