after years of struggling to better myself i have finally come to the conclusion that it is impossible because Christ is the only one that can do that and it was done at the moment of my rebirth
Paul tells us how to be perfect in Christ
“
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect:
but I follow after, if
that I may apprehend that for which
also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.”
Philippians 3:12-16 KJV
In more modern English language
“
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and
straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.”
Philippians 3:12-16
often the bible is teaching us the right frame of mind to have about things and speaks rather straight forward
christians are disciples or “ believers in and followers of “ Jesus and his teachings “ this is literally what a “ Christian “ is a “disciple “ of Jesus this term means follower of Paul is teaching there in those passages the correct frame of mind for a disciple always a follower pursuing perfection but never quite attaining to it
one day we will all be glorified like Christ until then we’re meant to learn from and follow him straining ahead towards the goal reaching forth into What’s just beyond us becoming more like him as we progress through life by faith but eventually he will complete us
“Dear friends,
now we are children of God, and
what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”
1 John 3:2
