Hello and welcome to our fellowship. We are glad to have you with us. With the hot weather we have been having recently here in NC, our AC units have been working overtime. It would be nice to be on the Outer Banks right now! Right?

My family lived not far from the NC coast when I was growing up and once or twice a year we would visit the Outer Banks. It was indeed a different life there......almost no auto traffic, few people except for the village of Ocracoke and several other very small villages...and not many places to stay overnight but beautiful camp sites near the sound of waves.
There were and still are wild horses (known as "banker ponies") living on the islands and are believed to be the descendants of horses belonging to Spanish explorers who visited the US southeast coastline in the mid 1500's. There are severe hurricanes that visit the islands every 8-10 years and rearrange the shape and size of the islands. Most of the Outer Bank islands are reached by ferries today. Worth a visit!
