What is within defiles a man. The word of God cleanses there. The willingness to obey
is the evidence that this has been done. Only God can create in us a clean heart.
No matter how this sounds on the surface, NO ONE IS SAVED BY WATER BAPTISM. That is false doctrine, which permeates the Catholic Church.
Perhaps the message the Lord was conveying
All Christians have a duty to understand the significance and importance of the shed blood of Christ for the remission of their sins.
that might win the prize for the most inane comment I've seen on here.... and there have been a bunch. LOL.... carry on....

Do you even have a working definition of "Baptised in the holy Ghost by Christ"?Baptised in the holy Ghost by Christ

Do you even have a working definition of "Baptised in the holy Ghost by Christ"?
If you do please share it. With scripture please.
This is human sensibilities.
"It cannot mean what it says because it violates my accepted understanding of salvation."
This has nothing to do with the Catholic Church, you are simply attempting to "muddy up the waters".
"Perhaps"??? How about lettings scripture stand on its own.
Acts 22:16 is rather simple, no need to insist on a hidden meaning simply to protect your sensibilities.
Paul's sins came into contact with the blood of Jesus (not physical blood) at water baptism.
Hence the words "wash away your sins".
Ananias and Paul accepted this. Why must you and others insist that this is not the case?
You may think you are defending scripture but you are really defending a series of preconceived sensibilities.
One is baptized by the Holy Spirit into Christ. One is baptized with the Holy Spirit by Christ.Your either Baptised in the holy Ghost by Christ or your Baptised in water by a man.
You can receive both but only one is required to take part with Christ.
That is the very opposite of grace.Jeremiah 17:10
English Standard Version
“I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”
Acts 13:22
King James Version
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
God does not willy-nilly choose among us who is to be "cleansed". He searches out amidst His creation to bless according to His conditions.
You don't understand the meaning of a working definition, do you? Be honest.John the Baptist Baptises with water.
Christ Jesus Baptises in the holy Ghost.
Comprehend?
Mathew 3:11
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Chapter and verse?Paul's sins came into contact with the blood of Jesus (not physical blood) at water baptism.
It is what the scripture state. That is the very opposite of grace.
God "chose" David because of his heart. Also, a man after God's own heart just means God chose. Saul was a man after the people's own hearts. That's who the people chose.
This how water baptism is described:PS
To be Baptised is to wash.
Mathew 3:11
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

This how water baptism is described:
CEB
Baptism is like that. It saves you now—not because it removes dirt from your body but because it is the mark of a good conscience toward God. Your salvation comes through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Baptism is not a bath.
Your comments are rather immature.
