What was your fave cartoon as a kid and why?

Just curious. Did anyone else want Jerry or the Road Runner to lose? They did play the say cartoons over and over, and after a while, you knew who would win.

I had such a twisted mind back then. I imagined how I would rule the world. Alas, I fawned because I thought I shouldn’t think such things…

I just thought how my world would look. Thinking back I think it could have may well have accumulated to communism 😬

Until Homer Simpson came along. Also he was funny. When watching tv, you need to laugh, otherwise, why would you watch it.
 
oddly, i did not watch tv as a kid. just didn't like it. but when i was a teen (& smoking pot), we would get stoned & watch deputy dog & scubby doo & laugh our faces off!

I grew up on Tom and Terry, The Flintstones, Daffy Duck, Popeye, Tweety, looney tunes, Roadrunner> It was very American. I loved the western front. Our british cartoons were not as good in my opinion. I loved the enemy fight.

For me it was the Anamaniacs. I can't remember many specifics, just that it had me laughing a lot. Honestly it might have been a bit snarky but also just silly. For example, the girl character's name is Dot, so I remember an episode where they would periodically speak of a pattern of polka dot, for which every time this was mentioned she would obediently grab the speaker's hands and start dancing. Here is a clip of Wacko singing the countries of the world.

Rug Rats was also really cute and smartly written. Even my dad would watch it with us.
Also Doug, The Simpsons, and what kid raised in a Christian home could fail to mention Veggie Tales?

Yep, I don't doubt there's certain formats and formulas. Of course, the one good thing about most cartoons, although there are plenty of exceptions, is that they have a worthwhile lesson. But sometimes it's fine to bake cookies instead of protein bars or toss a salad. Whenever I watched cartoons, I wanted something unique; preferred learning, pushing through adversity, stopping evil, friendship, adventure, moral lessons.

Just my opinion, but early on I was rather shocked at the (often) mean-spiritedness of Bugs/looneytoons (Last of the Mohicans comes to mind) and cartoon violence of Tom & Jerry formats. I wasn't a fan of those, and not much for the silliness of the Hanna-Barbera (Peter Potamus was decent lol). One exception would be the creativity of a few Roadrunners.

Most modern kid-cartoons I've seen, if I had to sit with kids, really irks me, it's mostly high-pitched silly melodrama.

I don't really watch cartoons anymore unless I'm with friends who are doing it. More modern ones I've appreciated were Ren & Stimpy S1-2, Recess, Fillmore and Adventure Time. I won't walk out on a Simpsons or SouthPark, as it's hard to beat good satire.
