Winston just seemed like a very majestic name for an owl.
I have been maintaining for years in chat that owls are carnivores and she is blithely ignoring their needs.
That's the beauty of a world you make up for yourself -- you can write your own rules!
On a serious note, I've seen videos of people (vegetarians/vegans) who try to insist their cats are all plant-based too.
At least I only make up rules for animals that are stuffed!
P.S. If anyone ever sees me putting "Dislikes," "Disagrees," or "Angry Face" emojis on Lynx's posts, it's because we've been bantering for years.
Something would be REALLY off if I agreed with him ALL the time.
I learned from the best - Bill Watterson, author of Calvin and Hobbes. Yes Calvin, Hobbes is real.
Yes seoulsearch, Winston is real. And BB. And Hoot. And Holla. (No I'm not kidding.) And Sammy. And Rosie. And Packy. And Loqui. And the croc and the two tiny birds, I forget their names.
The bit players all have names ending in ie or y. Winston, Hoot and Holla are the only ones she ever talks about, and they're the only ones with names not ending in a y sound.

One thing I have to give Lynx credit for, and several other regulars you see here, they're willing to put up with my antics -- no matter how zany they are!
We didn't have lot of money when I was growing up so little luxuries, like a new stuffed friend, was a treasure to me. I would often "talk" to my Mom through them, and she would "talk" back to me by leaving little notes next to them for me to find when I got home from school. (Mostly, "Leave us alone and let us rest! We're tired from playing!") Lol.
And so now, even as a middle-aged adult, I still do the same. I told my Dad, if I had ever learned to "throw" my voice (be a ventriloquist,) people would have been amazed and wanted to see more, but since I just "talk" through my critters "normally," everyone thinks I'm crazy!
But that's ok! As long as it still makes my parents -- and a few rare friends -- laugh, I'm good.

His name is Winston.
I have an ongoing... discussion... with a friend about what color Winston is.
My friend says Winston is mint green.
I say Winston is turquoise (mix of green and blue, leaning more blue.)
* What do YOU all think? What color is Winston?
I personally find color, and all aspects of it to be fascinating.
* Do you have colors you have a hard time telling apart? (peach vs. pink, lavender vs. purple, blues vs. green, etc.)
* Are there any time when you have others pick out colors for/instead of you because you can't describe/tell what they are?
* Does anyone struggle with color blindness, and what have your experiences been? I once knew a guy who could only see variations of white, black, and gray, so when he was driving, he had to go by whether the top, middle, or lowest light was on. I'm not sure what he did for flashing arrows of varying color though. Has anyone else dealt with this?
* Do you dream in color, black and white, or both?

That's too many fancy names for blue. I just stick with light or dark with every color. It keeps it simple and I don't have to memorize a whole books worth of similar things.
I get the KISS approach. I try to start with it. However, this exercise has been another God wink for me, seeing the color as Lake blue connects it to the symbolism of the Hebrew letter "mem," which is water.
Memory has always been a weakness of mine and I dare not try to fix it any time soon. Also I feel like just saying dark blue or light green is so much simpler. Less descriptive for sure, but it gets the job done for me. I'm sure if I attempted to memorize color names I would start having nightmares of various colors belittling me for my inability to call them by the right name. No thanks on that one. My nightmares are strange enough as is. lol
My favorite subject in school had always been art so I'm familiar with color theory. But although remember wishing for the 64 box of crayons, most of them probably would be left unused.
I used to have frequent nightmares and they only stopped when I didn't allow them to upset me. I remember learning of a theory that when a driven is given to you by God, it will be in color and if it's from the devil, otherwise known as deception himself, it will only be in black and white because he can't duplicate the light required to create color. I think there is merit in that, but whether this is valid or speculation, it helped me in the ability disregard nightmares and "cast down vain imaginations to the obedience of Christ, with the Word that He gave us that He has not given us a spirit of fear. So, as long as there is color, I don't have to worry, whatever it is, it's good because it's from God, though I do pay more attention to it, and all other ones can be dismissed as no worse than the spicy meatballs I had for dinner.
Oh, and my memory isn't all that good either, but for the utility of the internet search.
