I know this is tough, but would you choose:

A. Waffles?

1717174380558.jpeg

OR

B. Pancakes?

1717174445246.jpeg

Or some sort of hybrid?

(The description said "Fluffy Pancakes," but I'm pretty sure those things are the resulting offspring of a pancake -- and a donut.) :p

So... Which one would YOU choose, and WHY?

OR...

None of the above? How about something else?

Just a fluffy little fun thread ahead of the weekend (and maybe inspiration for tomorrow's breakfast!) :geek:

Yes please. Both! (Norwegian ones with a recipe handed down through generations)

I'm not sure why but I find this difficult to answer. I have never heard of a hybrid and I feel like it has to be illegal somehow, but I guess I would pick those to get the best of both. Unless they're crunchy. I can't stand crunchy food.

But what if your waffles, pancakes, eggs, and coffee come with a side order of...

TAXATION?!!! (You know, like if you got them at Denny's.) o_O:cool::p
I wouldn't trust any food from Denny's. Their food stopped tasting good about 15 years ago for me. Also, how dare they tax disgusting food?!? It should be free!

I was actually thinking of a spin-off to this thread, and I think you just reinforced it! :D

Stay tuned...

P.S. I've been seeing your posts around the forum and really dig your input and sense of humor. :)

This sounds awesome -- what makes the Norwegian pancakes/waffles distinct?

Specific ingredients?

The way they're cooked?

I love hearing about native/cultural/family generational traditions of making food!

I really like waffles, but my homemade buttermilk pancakes are very smashing. I'm torn.

This thread makes me hungry for breakfast foods. I gotta run errands this afternoon. No time to make pancakes or waffles, but now I wanna stop at my fave cafe downtown after errands and order their Big Country Mix Match, which has a little bit of everything. Thanks :D

Love both equally.

I prefer pancakes with bacon/sausage, eggs, and hash browns, and waffles with fruit and yogurt. I probably won't switch pancakes and waffles around.

Both taste good with honey.

Both taste good with peanut butter.

Both make good sandwiches with just about anything you would normally put on a sandwich.

My favorite is whichever one is available. If neither is available, I don't have a favorite. If both are available I will eat both, and lots of them.

For people who have a preference of one over the other, what are the reasons why?

I don't mind waffles at all, but texture is a very big issue with me, and for some reason, I prefer the fluffy smoothness of the pancakes.

To me, waffles are a bit lumpy and chewy, though I wouldn't refuse them if that's all the place had.

If they are chewy, somebody didn't cook them right.

Well, I'm glad I could help out. As for my sense of humor, I'm actually a bit worried that I'm letting my humor run wild like it used to. My sense of humor used to be very dark and a lot of times inappropriate. I feel like I need to reign it in a bit more before I start backsliding and saying things that I shouldn't say. As far as this post goes, I feel like someone needs to take a hit for the team and eat all 3 in one sitting so we can get their verdict on which fluffy sweet bread is the superior one.

What about using a pancake to make a taco? I feel like some spicy meat with salsa and cheese might go well with a pancake. Though I am unwilling to be the taste tester for this creation.

Been there. Done that.

That's one of my go-to lunches at w*rk. We have fish patties and we have pancakes, so sometimes I get an order of pancakes and three fish patties and make me some fish tacos.

And, even after COVID started, you can still get pancakes all day long so you could make some fish tacos at McDonald's at 9:00 p.m. if you wanted.

Caveat: it's only good when the oil is fresh.

I like how the syrup fills up the pockets in the waffle. For me, it's just a case of what breakfast I want. If I'm not in the mood for meat and eggs I go for waffle and something light. I prefer pancakes for texture, sometimes the waffles can be chewy.
