How different their spiritual situation and eternal destiny was from the Thessalonians whom God chose to save and appointed to be saved!

It's God's GRACE or LACK THEREOF that separates the wheat from the chaff --that determines whether one responds positively to the gospel or negatively. Grace is the DIFFERENCE! And notice how salvation always involves two components to that Grace: Empowerment by the Spirit for the purpose of Faith in the [Gospel] Truth. These two elements together invariably will produce the New Birth from above.

And lastly, notice for whom Christ died! He died for US, which I suppose you will pervert to mean the entire world!?

And since God makes all his elect believers by the power of his grace, how is this a bad thing? It would be better for the elect to be be left to their own evil devices, as the non-elect, to get the justice they deserve? How is it a bad thing when God sovereignly chooses to do good to undeserving sinners?

As far as "no choice in the matter" goes, so what? God has no choice in the matter of sinning, evidently. Something must be limiting his power of free will. So, what would make you think that man's will power isn't also limited, most especially when scripture teaches us that it is?
