I am moved with the amount of confusion these days about the nature of our salvation. The answer to this question can be different depending on the denomination you attend, but I believe the Bible is clear if interpreted correctly. Salvation is a free gift, that is received through repentance and faith, and it was completely paid for by what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. All we are required to do is accept it by faith.

In that case, it wouldn't be a free gift. Anything that someone must do to obtain it, makes it theirs only by their doing, and therefore, not a free gift. To be truly free, it must be imputed to someone, placed into their possession in spite of, and apart from, anything they may do, otherwise, it isn't free.

[Tit 3:5-7 KJV]
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

[1Co 1:30 KJV]
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

[2Pe 1:1 KJV]
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

This is true, yet some silly person has given you a thumbs down. If a person cannot even understand and believe this fundamental truth, they are surely lost.

Amen!

The 3,000 Peter preached to in Acts 2 Accepted it.
In Acts 7 those who heard Stephen stopped their ears which means to Reject it.
So it's definitely up to the HEARER to accept or reject!

Another silly response. Do you even know the Gospel or have you invented your own gospel? Have you ever received a gift at any time? Did you not have to actually receive it and thank the giver before that gift could do you any good? And does not Paul say thanks be unto God for His unspeakable (indescribable) gift? So how did you get saved, if in fact you did?

You judge God's gifts by man's standards? Really? You should instead learn what the Bible says. Reread the verses I posted - that it is all by God, nothing by man.

God saved me with no preconditions or requirements associated to it by His exceeding mercy and grace through Jesus Christ.
That is what makes grace grace, a gift a gift, and Christ, not us, the Saviour.

Well unless you repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and received Him as Lord and Savior, that was certainly not according to what God expects. You are under the delusion that you are honoring God but, in fact you are ignoring what He has said about salvation. You have another gospel.

Oh, me too - I definitely deserved His wrath and not His grace and mercy. Guess that shows that His grace and mercy are far beyond
our understanding.

Nope. Everything pertaining to salvation comes from salvation - nothing that we may do can lead us to salvation. You honor not God nor His grace and mercy but man which is an insult to God saying Christ's sacrifice was insufficient to fully and completely provide salvation - that it needs the assistance of man to bring it to fruition.

When I give an alter call at the end of my sermon why are people coming to the alter?
They are coming to accept Jesus.
They heard the Gospel and made a choice to get up from the pew and walk to the altar and surrender their life to God.

That's how it basically happens to EVERYONE inside a Church Building.

nah. that's just you presenting a case for elect vs non-elect and how God decides who will be saved and who will become fodder for the fire

a gift is actually something given with the recipient not doing anything to receive it, other than taking possession of said gift

so my husband comes home and hands me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. shall I toss it back in his face because I did not grow the flowers myself? I welcome those flowers, find the vase I want to put them in and cut the stems to fit and then place that in a prominent place so I can enjoy them.

according to this elect vs non-elect doctrine of misinformation, I am forced to take the flowers whether I want them or not and take care of them. the resentment would be real

Can a spiritually dead person "receive" a spiritual gift? No, just as a physically dead person cannot "receive" a
physical gift. A dead person cannot receive anything. They must be made spiritually alive, but then being made alive, that gift is therefore already in their possession.

[Col 2:13 KJV] 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

A spiritually dead person can Hear the Gospel and choose to believe or shut their ears like we see both cases in Acts.

That means once the Gospel is preached the ears are opened and you can choose to believe or reject.

That is 100% Bible Fact.
