How about the 10 commandments? We’re still under them, right? …because certainly we can’t go out and rob a bank or go around killing folks.

I believe it’s the blood ordinances and rituals that came to an end when our Lord Jesus was nailed to the cross. In Him, they were fulfilled.
. . .
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

- Romans 8:1-4

Wow. Amazing. …It’s the Holy Spirit that guides us in our Father’s ways …
I should have read the second half! You quoted the same Script from Romans! Nice work, friend. :)

Indeed, all do need the Grace of God expressed in the New Covenant . . . and you were SO CLOSE TO SHARING IT in specific details. Here you go:

Colossians 2:9-15 NLT - 9 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. 11 When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

That is Grace!! Why Pastors do not share the above Seven most unbelievable verses in the Bible . . . is staggering.

Oh, I think I have invest about 14 hours in Hebrews today, and I can confidently say that if a person would study Colossians 2:9-15 for a year, and THEN read Hebrews . . . pft . . . whole a letter. And by the way, I cannot help but feel that the Apostle Paul at minimum, co-authored that written master. One main reason is that he said Himself several times that he was chosen, by God, to explain the Mysterious Plan of God.

Oh my yes! I would love to talk to the Jews about how they perceive their Faith. Man o' man . . . that is a golden opportunity! To be able to openly speak with a Blessed Jew . . . I would never pass up such an opportunity. Nor would I pass up an opportunity to discuss virtually anything with a Satanist. I would love to hear their perspective on Scripture, or anything else, providing that it is reasonable and mature in conveyance. In fact, I am starving to understand what all people believe, unfortunately, there are very few that can hold a textual conversation without getting snotty, so my options for learning are limited. But, in my thinking, the more I speak to others and consider their perspectives, this helps me understand why I believe what I believe that much more.

Cheers!
I've had Jewish friends and family. They knew things that they taught me on various topics. One was a famous pediatrician. We spent many hours talking about many things.
He cared a lot about children and enough to consider what Dr Leonard Horowitz taught about vaccines. One of my mentors, Dr James Winer told me first how my uncle stopped the use of a very dangerous vaccine cocktail in the premier children's hospital in our region of the country. That was the most honorable thing that I have ever seen a physician and hospital president do.

. My point about the previous post is that it takes born again believers in Christ to lead others to him. The Bible requires the Holy Spirit to understand beyond the basics. It's born again believers commissioned with the role of preaching the gospel to the lost Jews and gentiles. When it comes to the Bible, we are not told to go to rabbis of a religion that is refered to by Jesus as ...

9I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

The only religion with a synagogue is Judaism. I think that's who He was referring to rather than those who call themselves Satanists. The Old Testament still applies in so many ways, yet I would never go to the Orthodox Jewish teachers for instructions.
Why?
They have not the Holy Spirit of God .
They hate Jesus .
They do not believe the OT.
God commands us to go to them to tell them they are wrong and to share the good news with the Jews who were deceived by their rabbis.

My concern and love for them is to lead them to the Lord so they can go to heaven too.
That is why I agree with you in the sense of certainly talking to them for that purpose.
There are family who I thought I'd have another chance to lead them to our Savior.
Hopefully someone else reached them.
Perhaps we can lead others Jewish family to Christ.

Yes, yes, yes! You said it perfectly. However (oh boy, I'm doing it again), I would love to talk to them about circumcision. This doctrine, one of the Works of Christ, caused them to stumble, for they didn't grasp what it was about. I want to know what it means to them.

I know someone who actually interviewed rabbis and one explained what they think about circumcision. I'm not sure if I can find the specific interview, but it's in a documentary.

Not the law of Moses, no, though there are some here who do believe that, and even that those 613 laws
are written on our hearts, which I believe is really pushing into territory none of us should tread as Christians.

John 8:36 plus Romans 8:2 If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.
:)
Yea we don’t want this written on our heart

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭

We want this written on our heart

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Not this

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:10-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But this

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We want this word “ written “ on our heart the one we’re called to believe and be saved

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“The law and the prophets were until John:

since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Hola folks . . .

Did I miss it, or have we still yet to figure out why the author of Hebrews stated that the Law would soon disappear? Why would the author say this? Wasn't it long gone?

Again, apologies if we figured this out already. My brain is the burnt tip of a match.

That would be amazing. What would be even better is for my being able to ask questions: I have some good ones. In fact, I am looking forward to the next time I have the chance to speak with one of our Blessed Jewish Brothers or Sisters. I think they'd be shocked over what I would offer.

There was a transition from the old covenant to the new covenant. The old covenant was still in effect officially until judgment was brought on Israel in 70AD. Hebrews was written before that time; hence, was still passing.

I'll take it a step further. There isn't a pastor alive that I would turn to for, well . . . anything. Approaching 60 years old, I can testify that I have yet to be taught by a "pastor" who actually understood, much less taught the actual Saving Gospel of Christ.

My concern and love for them is to lead them to the Lord so they can go to heaven too.
That is why I agree with you in the sense of certainly talking to them for that purpose.

Whoa! That makes all the sense in the world. I love that. Now, how do we reconcile the many passages, even from Jesus's own lips, that the Law would be removed, replaced, destroyed, smashed, etc?

Jesus said not one jot or tittle would be removed from the law until all was accomplished (the purpse of His incarnation), and all was accomplished, in terms of making salvation available to all, with the shedding of His righteous blood on the cross and His subsequent resurrection, overcoming sin and death on our behalf, and we participate in His victory, being reconciled to God and attaining to life ever after via grace through faith. The law is a tutor that leads us to Christ... Those who put themselves back under the law after being saved have fallen away from the grace that is found in Christ. I am on my phone and so don't have the ability to provide the relevant Scripture verses to back up what I am saying, but they are easily found.

By the way, I'm certain that if you could create your art into index-card sized and on super shiny card stock, they'd be worth some $$.
I source much of my ephemera from sites that stipulate no financial gain for using what they offer, such as backgrounds, frames, flowers, faces, borders, butterflies, special effects etc, and I am fine with that .:D

I think people's view of eschatology often cripples them here. Most believe the new heavens and earth are literal. I believe the new heaven was established when Jesus presented His blood after His resurrection, cleansing it of all sin.
The new earth isn't completely made new, but is being restored over time. God is working gradually through history to restore earth, as well as humanity, to its original estate. The notable addition for humanity is that man has become partaker of the divine nature. I know this isn't the prevailing view of most today. But the impact of the cross was monumental on all creation.
The question then arises: how can all things be considered new if they are obviously incomplete? And it's a fair question. I would answer in the same way we were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world or spoken of as glorified in Romans 8. Those things are for us and many others yet to take place, but God speaks of them as already a done deal. I believe this is so because for God to purpose a thing ensures its reality.
So for me, the old heavens and earth have passed away.

I agree completely. I actually don't believe in profiting off of the Word of God, either. It's a very dangerous thing to do. :)

Hello friendly friends,

I am working my way through Day 356 of the timeline, chronological study plan and in this set of unbelievable Scripture, arises this matter of the Levitical Law and its expiration date. :)

Hebrews 8:13 KJV - 13 In that he saith, A new [covenant], he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old [is] ready to vanish away.
Hebrews 8:13 NLT - 13 When God speaks of a "new" covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear.

There is plenty of Scripture to demonstrate that the Law has been removed as of the Resurrection of Christ.

I, at this time, believe that the Law has been extinct for a couple thousand years, but I need to make sure that I am, gulp, "right" about this belief.

Thank you to all who participate with the maturity that only comes from the same Love that the Father has for His Holy Son (should the Lord have placed it within you).
The Law has its place still. While there are sinners, the Law has a role to play (1 Timothy 1:8).
However, the Law has no more application to those who are born again.

I do not believe keeping the Sabbath is for Christians, and in fact cannot be kept as it was commanded
for Israel. The Sabbath rest pointed forward to the rest we find from works for salvation, when we place
our faith in the shed righteous blood of Jesus Christ. In Sabbath threads I have said, Jesus is my Sabbath
rest so many times, I finally made a panel for it
.:D. The commandment is nowhere repeated in the NT.

Jesus is my Sabbath rest.

JesusHe is our rest. All of His promises in His Word belong to those that are in His rest
is my Sabbath rest.

:)
Good news! :) Jesus Christ became our Sabbath when He paid the price for our sins on that holy Cross. Every Christian can find rest and peace of mind in Him every single day of the week. Our Father is so gracious and merciful. He has given us countless promises to carry us through in our lives—promises that we can count on, that strengthen our faith because we know that He will be faithful to keep each and every one of them.

Jesus is our abode, our Rest. Thank You, Lord.

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

- Hebrews 4 (KJV)

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
- Psalm 95:6-11 IMG_0823.jpg
