You know He is talking about His Disciples. Jesus came for the JEWS. Paul is who evangelized to the Gentiles.

Jesus is talking here:
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Who was Jesus talking to there when He said that ? A jew or a Gentile

They dont believe because Christ didnt die for them as He did His Sheep Jn 10:26

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

Believing in Christ comes with the fact He died for you. So if one never believes, its because He never died for them taking away their sins. See His Death takes away sin and its awful consequences 1 Jn 3:5

And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Unbelief is the consequences of sin
Calling God a Liar will only send you to HELL!

First step to be learned...
Getting oneself back on the road when we swerve and end in a ditch.

This is God's towing service for when we sin...
If we confess/acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

Being led of the Spirit will keep leading us into what we need at the stage of growth we will find ourselves in.
1 John 1:9 is keeping oneself on the narrow road that leads to finding Life as God wants us to have it.

Arrogance is the big enemy. For arrogance fails to recognize sin.

grace and peace ...........
The first step I was referring to was this ... John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit.

I will have to report this as it is sexist. In Australia men don't have "fannies" (leastwise not the real ones) only women do so you have discriminated against us "fairer sex". Humph!.

ps. just joking with ya. ;) :D

I just looked it up for how its used in other parts of the world...:eek:

Here is American ... It simply means "buttocks."

But, keep in mind. You Aussies and Brits also drive on the wrong side of the road..... So its no wonder . :)

Just a point some get wrong...

When a woman is about to deliver a baby she "breaks water."
That does not speak of water baptism. Physical birth.

grace and peace ....................

Most hate Calvinism because they don't know anything about it, as you have just demonstrated. There are many different interpretations of the gospel in the Church, each denomination contradicts the other while everyone claims theirs is the only true Biblical gospel.
Can you demonstrate that Eternal Security did not originate with John Calvin?

How do you define "saved" in this context? and which scriptures are you using to get this definition? And are Moses and Elijah fully saved, or are they still awaiting some more saving work by our Lord?
I believe Moses and Elijah were "fully saved" by grace through faith during their lifetimes.

We, in our day and time, are "fully saved" by grace through faith. The born again ones are sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession (Ephesians 1:13-14).

Born again believers are not waiting to be saved ... we already are saved. We're awaiting the redemption of the purchased possession ... at which point we will be transformed and we shall see Him as He is. Until the redemption of the purchased possession, we are maturing and God is working in us to rid us of things which are not beneficial to us (and we sometimes hang on to what we need to have removed).

Romans 1:17 tells us For in it [the gospel] the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

the just shall live by faith ... salvation has always been by faith. It's not from works to faith or from faith to works, but from faith to faith. The justified ones live by faith. It is a continuous walk of faith in this lifetime.

Have you ever looked into the earnest [the arrabōn]? I'd be interested in your understanding if you have any info on that. Thanks!

I agree but I also am well aware of this...
19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools

You are quoting from Romans, although you did not reference it.

(19) - The carnal man, as described in 1 Cor 2:14, before he has been born again of the Holy Spirit, What can be known of God is not plain to them, neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.

(20) - God's eternal power and divine nature has not been clearly perceived by the natural man, who does not perceive the things of the Spirit.

(21) - The carnal man cannot know a spiritual God. Romans 8:7 - Because the carnal man is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be.

(22) - Rom 1:22 - Professing themselves to be wise they became fools and changed the glory of God. The natural man could not have changed the glory of the uncorruptible God because they did not know the glory of God, as did Stephen, Acts 7:59, and they stoned Stephen.

If you finally submit to salvation belonging to God and not the choice of men then I thank God for answered prayer!
This is nothing but a strawman argument. Everyone who has posted in this thread agrees that salvation is wholly of/by/from God.

That you equate faith as some sort of "choice of men" does not transform faith into your stated claim.

the issue at hand is who is the cause of salvation, God or man?
Again, this is nothing but a strawman argument.

Why are we dwelling on this?
Because for some reason, some folks believe faith is some sort of work on the part of man even though God clearly states that faith is not works:

Romans 4:

2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.

3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.

5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness

You don't need to spiritually discern to look at the earth and know God created it.

new converts can take advantage of my wisdom
hahahahahaha!!!

arrogance much???

There are many different interpretations of the gospel in the Church, each denomination contradicts the other while everyone claims theirs is the only true Biblical gospel.

Can you see how pathetic this situation is and why the world looks at the Church as a bunch of deluded nut jobs. It's nearly impossible to get anyone outside the Church to even consider the possibility that there may be some truth to the gospel.

All of my highly educated friends mock the Church, because all they see are hypocrites bickering and back stabbing each other. That truth slams the door shout on any possibility of trying to attract intelligent people into the Church. I don't blame them and I agree the Church is a basket case in our days.

The damning factor for the Church is, we rejected the last commandment which the Lord left us whit before He ascended to heaven. He said, the world will recognize us because of the love we have for one another. Now the opposite is true, they can easily identify the Church for the hatred in it.

It's really quite a sad and shameful state of affairs.
In agreement.

John 13:

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

The present perfect passive participle indicates that you were saved in the past by faith and are continuing to be saved in the present by faith. This implies that we must be believing in the past to be saved in the past, and we must be believing in the present to continue to be saved in the present.
I think it is the one act of faith in the past saves us in the future, not that we need to continually have faith to stay saved.
Yes, HeIsHere, in agreement.

However, it seems to me PaulThomson is talking about our day-to-day fellowship with the Father as opposed to God having saved us.

Once we are born again ("saved"), we are children of God. He is our Father and we are His children and continue to be His children in this lifetime and in new heaven/new earth.

However, as children, we sometimes disobey ... ignore ... are drawn away from Father ... etc., etc. This does not mean we are no longer children; however, it affects our fellowship with Father ... and we are chastened by Him if and when we do stray.

God is faithful and He always welcomes us back with open arms when we realize we have left Him and turn back to Him.

Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

HeIsHere said:
It is the object of our faith (Christ Jesus) that saves not our faith, faith is the vehicle.
yes yes yes ... something I have been trying to get through to those who insist that faith is some sort of "work" on the part of mankind.

no wicked means wicked.

Sorry but I don't mind Calvinism amusing anymore after discovering tulip last month I've felt sick for a while coming here but I'm learning to cope

Gets theese muts aways from me please 😊

Stroll on 😊

You evidently do not understand how depraved we all are by our nature. The only righteousness we have is the imputed righteousness of Christ. Our righteousness is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6)

He came to his own (the Jews) and they rejected him. They rejected him, and began to worship idols when Moses was on the mountain receiving God's laws written in stone. He then blinded their eyes to see the truth. God did not reject them as his elect and they still have the promise of an inheritance of heaven. He left in the midst of them a remnant that would follow his truths (Zeph 3:11-13).

By your comments, you believe eternal salvation is gained by your works. Do you realize that the only righteousness that you have by nature is as filthy rags? (Isaiah 64:6).
