Do you refer to Numbers, the Scripture book? Or something else? .
I get the impression that you think counting a number in Scripture with an added meaning to it is forbidden.
But counting a specific number (with an added meaning) is exactly what Revelation 13:18 tells the one who has understanding to do.
So before I answer that question: What do you think Revelation 13:18 says?
Here is the verse:
Revelation 13:18
"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number
is Six hundred threescore
and six."
Here is my brief commentary:
Wisdom = knowledge + experience.
The person who has understanding (in the fact that they have experience and knowledge in this department) is told to count the number of the beast. It is the number of a man. AND
HIS NUMBER (the beast's number) is 666.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine and instruction in righteousness.
This would include the numbers in Scripture unless you don't believe all Scripture is profitable for doctrine, and instruction in righteousness.
Also consider: It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and the waters rose while Noah was in the Ark.
With all those animals I am sure that storm was challenging (or like a trial).
Moses was on Mount Sinai and away from the Israelites for 40 days and 40 nights. The Israelites were being tested or put under a trial by waiting and they failed.
Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. Jesus was in a trial or testing period. There are many things like this in the Bible. However, according to many, the numbers in the Bible have zero meaning.
Most in your camp simply ignore the words in Revelation 13:18.
Anyway, I will answer your question if you give me your commentary on Revelation 13:18.
What do you think it says?
