We Are God’s Temple
14 You are not the same as those who don’t believe. So don’t join yourselves to them. Good and evil don’t belong together. Light and darkness cannot share the same room. 15 How can there be any unity between Christ and the devil[a]? Unambiguous Hebrew or Aramaic references to cannabis are rare and obscure[citation needed]. Late Syriac Ahiqar texts include qanpa as "ropes of hemp" (tunbei de-qanpa). The Hebrew word qanbes, a loan word from kannabis, is used in the Mishnah as hemp [Kilaim 2:5; 5:8; 9:1,7; Negaim 11:2] in the sense of a constituent of clothing or other items.

Cannabis was a common material among the Hebrews. The hempen frock called "Simlah" in Hebrew[18] was worn as a mark of the lowly. The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia also asserts the following:

is not a sin, even though we have "What Saith The Scripture?":

Brother, friend, The defilment of your proof text is sexual sin, context matters.

We agree that smoking anything is a health problem.

Second Hand Smoke is harmful to others ( love your neighbor principle can apply on that).

One needs to pray for wisdom and get treatment to stop smoking.

I do not see how one can smoke to the glory of G_d.

A main issue is self control. See II Peter 1

There is no command in the Scriptures that says, "thou shall not smoke".

We must not preach the gospel of legalism by taking texts out of context.

This is also how we know suicide is a sin.

The part that tells us "If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy"

Self murder is the ultimate defiling of the body, which is why even Christians who self murder go to hell.

The Holy Spirit NEVER leads anybody to smoke. Are ya trying to get cancer? It's a well established fact that tobacco causes cancer and smoking is a great way to get you some cancer. They why they call them cancer sticks!

Call it was it is, a sin and ask the Lord to forgive you.

Going forward, understand that this is a sin and turn away from it.
I don't think G-d leads us to over eat, fall off roofs or wear shoes.

We are called to glorify God in our body and that means abstaining from sexual sin as well as abstaining from things proven to be damaging to the body such as cigarettes. Jesus did not smoke the cigarettes and we shouldn't either.

Turns out there actually IS a command to abstain from ALL things that defile the body, dude. (see 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 )

I'm so glad people that claim it's OK for Christians to smoke were not counseling me back when I was a baby Christian! They would claim there's no specific command against smoking crack, shoot heroin, taking fentenal, snorting cocaine, smoking the weed, etc, etc.

People making these kinds of claim are false teachers and fake Christians who should be ignored!

I agree we likde Jesus are to avoid getting high. Smokes do not get one high. Good use of a general principle of Scripture Friend.

I think smoking is a health issue to be approached by common sense and wisdom. Not to lay a guilt trip on fellow believers who suffer from the deases caused by smoking. We should walk along with our Brothern as a good example in kindness and respect.

However....
Considering fully the New Testament commands about having faith in Jesus and loving each other....how does smoking prohibit or interfere with those things?

Asking because you said it was a sin.
Because it falls under defiling the temple of God. Where it says your body is the temple of God.

It's not what goes into the body that makes one unclean but what comes out of the heart.

People don't get inebriated from tobacco use like they do from recreational drugs or alcohol.

And...
if your logic was actually true if you ever eat a meal that is not perfectly balanced or fail to follow a perfect exercise plan or have a job that degenerates your physical body....you are living a life of sin.
