Hi everybody! 🙂
I’ve just signed up in hopes of a little guidance. I was raised in a non religious household and recently I’ve been finding myself more and more interested in learning about god. I guess I don’t know where to start. At 28 years old I feel crazy for never having prayed or even knowing how. I feel like this is my time to choose a new path but I just don’t know how to go about it.
I live in Australia if that makes any difference to how things work?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated 🙂

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading
the Bible. This movie is a word-for-Word portrayal of John's gospel.

I watched that particular gospel of John movie a number of times in my early days as a Christian.
It is really quite well done, and there are also other versions, and other gospels and Bible stories
available online. As a non-Christian, I had a very profound God encounter when I went to see a
movie on the life of Christ based on the gospel of Luke, and it was many years later, while I was
attending the Alpha Course for my first time, that I finally came to the realization that I no longer
needed any more convincing of the Truth of God's revealed written Word. That was a major turning
point in my life, and such a relief, after all my years of running from God in rebellion and disbelief,
to lay down my opposition to Him. The Alpha Course videos are packed full of information, history,
facts, and gospel truths... Christianity is really well presented! Here is a video of the gospel of Luke.
It is word for word also, high definition, and based on the NIV version, presented in successive parts.

Hi Natasha, glad to hear you're being drawn toward God. The thing I'd recommend most is praying. It's not difficult, just talk to Him like you would a friend; He'll understand you. Tell Him what's on your mind and that you'd like His help. You don't have to verbalize unless you want to; you can just speak to Him in your inner self. The other thing I'd do is try to get a Bible and start reading the New Testament. If you can find one you can understand that would be best. There are different translations and some are easier for beginners. There are a lot of online Bibles and Bible resources available too. God bless.

Then read the Bible more, and all your questions will have answers. If you can't understand, keep asking yourself questions until you can understand it. Of course, you can also choose to ask for help from others.

Pray to God that He helps you to get to know Him. He will lead you to godly Christians that will help you. Also read the Bible and ask God any questions for clarification as you study it - sooner or later He will make it plain to you. There are many translations, so find the one that helps you best understand it: https://www.biblegateway.com I read various translations because that's the best way for me to study the Bible.

I remember how I got saved and it was a wonderful process of getting to know Him and then gladly choosing to make Him my Lord and Savior!

Hello! The first thing to do is salvation. The Lord Jesus Christ was sent to us by His Father. Jesus lived, died and rose again for all of us. He paid the price for all of our sins against God.

His Grace and salvation for us is simple. John 3:16; Acts 16:31. Recognize that you are a sinner and in need of salvation, and trust in the work of the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

I had the Gospel witnessed to me at 30 years old. and I was driving down the road thinking about that truth. I accepted it and believed, and I was saved!

You can be anywhere and believe this truth and He is faithful and Just to save you! It's been a wonderful ride!

Welcome Natasha. You have already received some good advice, and the Gospel of John is definitely the place to start learning about salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. We all needed salvation, and the whole world needs to be saved.

Hi Natasha and welcome to CC ..

I am an Australian and while it is awesome,,, in regard to God it makes no difference if you Aussie or Mongolian..

The best policy i can recommend for you is to get yourself a Bible and start reading the New Testament.. I did that when i was in my early 20's and ended up becoming a Christian..

Yes discussing things with other Christians is good.. It can help when someone has wisdom that can help a seeker understand something they have not understood in the past.. But it can also hinder when one gets mislead by fake Christians who believe in wonky doctrines that are not backed up by the Actual Gospel message of God.. So yeah ask what ever you wish to ask and consider all the replies you get from other Christians but always be prepared to check what you may hear against the actual Word of God..

As for prayer all it is is talking to God asking him questions and asking him for help in your life.. The best prayers are your words coming from your mind,, genuine heart felt words are immeasurably more valuable to God then ten thousand words that are not yours and are not heart felt.. Be real with God and He will be real with you..

My favorite scripture is Romans 7. It gives a great description of who we are as humans without our Creator. For the good that I would I do not. The evil that I would not, that I do. We are the evil that wants to do good, but will always justify doing evil. Those in government are a great example of this. They authorize mothers to murder the innocent before they are born. No man can authorize the murder of the innocent, as this makes them a criminal.

The 2nd favorite scripture of mine is Luke 10. Most will walk by their brother being raped and robbed including priest, pastor, and Pharisee. It's the good Samaritan that will help any man as God commands. Expose your evil and do the good that God can help you do. In Luke 10 God tells us to love the wicked and hate no one. When you are offended by others it's usually your evil nature wanting to justify the evil that you don't want to be.

This movie, and 40 nights (about the 40 days the Lord spent in the desert facing the devil) are great for understanding the truth. Besides that pray simply for the Lord to reveal himself to you, ask from the heart, for him to be you Saviour and Lord.
