So nobody ever got saved by hearing the gospel? I guess that the apostles and those who followed, who proclaimed the message of salvation, were just wasting their time.

Most people get saved through the foolishness of preaching. But biblical hearing isn't simply hearing audibly. It also includes the idea of understanding. Jesus explains this in Matthew 13:10-17 when He quotes from Isaiah 6. What a number of people are trying to explain is that spiritual hearing is necessary to faith.
I don't know which recent posts you mean. I quoted a post from a few pages back if I recall correctly.

Well two actually
When Calvinists say Jesus died for the elect only, is that on the bases he knows there elect before he saves them.
Or is it in the bases he determines they are elect after he plants his word in there hearts. Either way could you explain it to me please,.I promise I won't bite.
Second question.
Is there any possibility God did not hate esau the person, God just hated the the idea that Esau's should be blessed with first rights.
Am I right in thinking the descendants of Esau became the Edomites who God blessed with a promise.
Then God told the Israelites not to step one foot on there land.
