One book I read more than once (there have been quite a few) was Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, by Robert Pirsig, which is a fictionalized account of a seventeen day trip he took with his son and a couple of friends (they accompanied for just over half the trip) to California from Minnesota. Wiki says Pirsig received 121 rejections before an editor finally accepted the book for publication— thinking it would never generate a profit. It was subsequently featured on best-seller lists for decades, with initial sales of at least 5 million copies worldwide. Heh. Just goes to show, you never know what will catch people's attention, and why. It was actually quite a good read. I found the book to be very conducive to looking deeper into the western way of how we think about life. Wiki says of it: The journey is punctuated by numerous philosophical discussions on topics including epistemology, the history of philosophy, and the philosophy of science.
