Thanks for posting this, Blade! Just my opinion of the song musically, not lyrically... a little pro/con... I think the groove of the verses is great, very hot, excellent groove and even danse material (0.11-0.28). But for me, the chorus (and bridge) ruin the song. The chorus musically is so "christian commercial music" cliche, syrupy sweet, bright power cords and ballady-melody I've heard it a million times. It's like two different songs that disappoint each other. Makes me imagine one of the guitarists was jamming with the drummer and created the verse jam, and then brought it to the group, and the main songwriter or singer penned the chorus; and creators of the verse groove aren't so happy about it.
I think how the original Evanescence album songs would stay with the cool groove into the chorus and didn't shy away from minor key tonality. Another example is like Mysterious Ways by U2... great groove and they stick with it into a well-matched natural chorus.
Blade, can you recommend any Crowder songs that stick with verse type of groove that doesn't sound like the chorus type of music?
