It's not about love to God? It is absolutely about love to God. Of course we can't obey without Christ dwelling in us, but Jesus said If you love Me- keep My commandments and then He gives us the Spirit to help us obey John 14:15-18. Jesus doesn't force us to obey Him, it our choice and if we love Him we would want to do everything He asks of us.
But who loves God without God loving them first? So when we love God it demonstrates that He has loved us.
It's alway about God.

I will too

Deuteronomy 27:26

Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’ ”

Perfection is required

Paul quotes Moses words in Gal 3

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that no one is [d]justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”

And james makes clear.. stumble just one time. Your dead.

James 2:10
For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

if yuo have sinned once,. Your done. There is no going back to keep the law. you already failed.

But even then, Even if we think we start over. we still can not achieve this perfection. so we are still guilty

Gods people keep his commands,, But they can not keep the law.. No one can. Only one did
Well scripture I already shared disagrees with this- God does have a people who overcomes and keep His commandments (His law) my faith is in His every Word - guess we will have to agree to disagree.

God did love us first, but that doesn't void out If you love Me keep My commandments. How do you love someone but not do what they ask. I love my husband, but would not be showing it if I never listened to him and did what I wanted instead. Saying we love Him and doing what He asks because of love are two different things. We are called to be doers, not hearers. James 1:22

So God contradicts himself. He tells us we must keep every jott and tittle of the law or we are cursed.. When did he lower the standard?

Again, grace and peace. If you have time, please reread my posts to you. Then take a moment to ask God whether what you believe is actually correct or not.

I pray and read the bible daily- that is where my teachings come from, not from man, most teach the exact opposite of what Jesus tells us to teach and gloss over His warning as we will all be accountable for our teachings. Mat 5:19-30

Jesus tells us how to gain peace and it is not being in rebellion to Him

Jesus never lowered the standard. He said not to change one jot or tittle of His law. Mat 5:18-30 because no one is above God. What He did do is give us the power to obey Him through love and faith. 1 John 5:3 John 14:15 Exo 20:6 Romans 3:31 Rev 14:12 He took the penalty for sin, but we too must die of sin and be reborn in Christ. If we see sin which is showed by the Ten Commandments Romans 7:7 Romans 3:20- we can pray to Jesus for forgiveness and sanctification (to overcome) but living in un-repented sin is a dangerous place to be Pro 28:13 Heb 10:26-30 as our salvation is from sin. Mat 1:21

why does a dog return to his vomit? just trying to get your understanding..
A sow returns to the mire after being cleansed because she doesn't realize that was what the water was cleaning her of, and a dog returns to its vomit because it doesn't realize the cause of its vomiting in the first place. These just do what they do and don't even know why because their reasoning skills are inadequate. They think, "Well, it's here for me so, I might as well engage in it."

I have a different view

A dog returns to it vomit, because it is a dog. It always was a dog

in the same way a sow returns to the mire, it is what it always was..

We always return to our true nature. Because we were never made into a new creature wiht a new nature.

They were never cleansed.. or saved. If they did they would not return back.

Yea. This is basically what all the texts say, "if indeed, they had escaped the corruption of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christs..." (2Pet2:20)... "then their final condition is worse than it was at the first." What could be worse than destruction?

I don't know why people would think that Peter was beyond using sarcasm to express a view in what would be the perfect way.

It would be worse if they had the truth in their hands, and let it go before it brought them to faith.. and they had an eternity to think about it..

its sort of like you are at the gate to get out of hell. And the last minute you change your mind.. before you were actually freed.

WHY are y'all ARGUING about ADONAI'S commandments? If you know for SURE then prove your point with Scripture and OTHER other words.

About Shabbat
Yeshua himself tells us through Paul: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. (Col 2:16,17)

Soooo with this in mind, I can hold MY Sabbath on "Saturday" or "Wednesday" or whatever day I deem Holy. Which now-a-days, at my age, is every day! What Yeshua is saying is STOP JUDGING!!!!! I am a member of the BODY OF CHRIST. and NO ONE has the right to judge me according to Yeshua! so just stop the arguing! oi vey!!!

As Peter also said, "I will obey ADONAI rather than Man." (Acts 5: 29)
yea, I know that last has nothing to do with the Sabbath... I'm just making a point here...

Even Yeshua had/has a sense of Humor! I mean He did create humor, after all.. Look at the silliness of his creation, right? Have you ever watched a crow slide down a snowy roof, enjoying himself? I have. it's hilarious! :D

very good point

Now, if you break one of the laws of Moses, you are guilty of all laws. So, If a person breaks the law, how can he return to obeying it when the penalty for breaking it is death? What did you do to ensure you could return to obeying the Sabbath if you were already a lawbreaker?

Thank you in advance.
Hi,

I know this wasn’t address to me but thought I would answer.

The scripture that says if we break one we break them all was a quote from the Ten Commandments. James is only quoting and contrasting the Ten Commandments saying if we break one we break them all using two from the Ten as examples James 2:10-12

Jesus took the death penalty for us and if we break His law and want to return to obeying Him we need take our sin to Jesus, praying and asking for forgiveness and asking Him to give us strength to overcome our sins- its promise in scripture that He will forgive us 1 John 1:9. If we fall again we get back up and ask Jesus to forgive us again and to help us overcome our sin. Jesus has more forgivness than we have sin, but He wants us changed from the inside out- He will help us but we have to do our part as well. There are many promises of scriptures that help us overcome temptation. The Sabbath is no different than the other commandments- Jesus wants to spend time with us on the Sabbath and its the day God asked us to set aside just to spend holy time with Him so He can bless and sanctify us. Eze 20:12 If we break the Sabbath and want to return, simply pray to Jesus tell Him your concerns and struggles and ask for forgiveness and to give you strength to obey. Jesus wants nothing more than for us to want to obey Him through love and faith. He will help us so we don’t have to do it alone John 14:15-18 God bless!

Hey there

Here is a post that digs deeper in Col 2:16 starting with the context in Col 2:14 in case you’re interested as there is more than one Sabbath in scripture- the weekly Sabbath that is a commandment of God and the yearly sabbath(s) that are ordinances that has to do with food, drink, holy days which is the context. https://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/the-sabbath.213758/page-18#post-5227301

Hey there

I agree there is more than one commanded Shabbat. What I am saying here is simply, as Yeshua tells us, for people to not judge someone because of the day they set aside for Adonai. It may be a 7th day Shabbat, or it may be a High Holy Shabbat like the festival of Tabernacles or Pasche. Just don't judge if someone choses not to celebrate it. YESHUA IS OUR SHABBOT!

Mark 2:27-28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

That's all I'm saying.

(Col 2:16,17) He is talking to the Jews and believers telling them not to let non-believers judge then for keeping the commandments and the Sabbath, this verse had to do with the weak in faith judging in food and meat.
You can worship and should every day of the week and I encourage everyone to do so, they gathered and broke bread and feasted and even preached the gospel, but that by no means changes the day of the Sabbath.
* You said: obey ADONAI rather than man

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:17-19
With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! Psalm 119:10
"Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law." Romans 3:31

7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Mark 7:7-13

The idea of keeping the Sabbath day holy to many is works-based salvation and legalism. We obey the law when we walk in the Spirit. We do not fulfill the will of the flesh. However, the flesh is NOT saved. If you are justified by the law after you receive grace, how can you return to what you are already guilty of breaking ? We follow Christ. You can't keep the sabbath if you want to.

Our hope is in Christ, not the law.
