I'm convince this is why he is still alive today, the same age as I am.
Speaking of the secret ingredient... I wanted to backpedal on this comment after a bit more thought. The believe flax formula is certainly influential in Jason's continued well-being, but I cannot discount the obvious love of his father that was especially notable in the movie and that, imho, makes is greatest influence and difference in any of our liveses.

It's also pretty cheap. I find bags of organic flax on iHerb and at Aldi and it's very reasonably priced. Besides adding it to my oatmeal, I've also added it to homemade smoothies and granola bars, and other things like black bean "burgers". I didn't even know about it until several years ago when I seen my dad using it. He told me it keeps him healthy, so I looked into it and ended up buying my own.
Okay, wait... Black bean burgers?

Black beans - good.
Burgers - good.
Black beans pretending to be burgers - bleh.

Honest food is always better than food pretending to be something else. I'd rather eat steamed cauliflower than "mashed potatoes" made of cauliflower.

That's combining two different, complementary flavors. Nothing is pretending to be something else. That's still honest food.

Not saying it wasn't "honest food" ...just saying it's food and we all like what we like. You aren't eating black bean burgers and I'm not eating pb eggs. We all still good.

Speaking of tofu...

When my daughter was really young, I used to make a macaroni salad with veggies and tofu.
One day after I served it to her, it was impossible not to notice she was digging through her
plate of food, so I asked her, "What are you doing?" She replied, "I am looking for the tofu."
Haha. Major Oops! I had not put any in that batch. She was looking for it cuz she liked it.

It should have read, "We've gone from talking about how we like or don't like our eggs to how even witches and dark magic can't make TOFU pass as edible." :p

The Cadbury eggs in the U.S. are different. There was even a lawsuit or something.

We have other sources of delicious chocolate. Moser Roth, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Lindor truffles...

We'll get by.

I could be wrong about this, but from what I've read, Hershey bought out Cadbury's division in the USA, which resulted in a reformulated recipe.

If I had to guess (strictly just my opinion from working many years in food retail,) the changes towards a more solid center were probably due to:

1. Costs, of course. I'm guessing the new recipe is cheaper, or might have been necessary due to supply issues, or both.

2. The liquid centers were probably more of a hassle for shipping, storing, etc.

As much as the frosting-like center might be loathed, it's more practical for shipping and storing across various climates (especially when palettes of merch are sitting in the back rooms of stores in places like AZ, where the air conditioning has been turned off in zones where employees are but not customers in order to save money.)

And of course, AZ is so hot that even if they did have the AC running in the back rooms, you barely noticed. Candy palettes certainly aren't important enough to take up any precious refrigerated space (same thing with shipping -- transport trucks are mini moving deserts, even in milder weather,) so coming up with a formulation that could endure extreme temperatures would be crucial.

I know some brands of those candy cordial cherries have liquid centers, but they're also packed in protective plastic cartons, where each piece of candy is individually protected.

Cadbury eggs are often packaged loose with only a foil covering, which presents a lot more challenges when developing a product that can endure all the journeys and conditions before it reaches the shelf.

I like Endangered Species chocolate. Their 72% dark chocolate with espresso beans is a fave, their hazelnut and cacao nibs is good too.

Mmmm, yes! Cella's is a popular brand with liquid centers. Better than Queen Anne chocolate covered cherries by four miles.

Funny thing, I'm just the opposite. (No surprise.) :LOL:

For me, the Cella liquid center disappears instantaneously, but with Queen Anne, at least the center is thick enough to enjoy for a few seconds. :p
