Paul was and remains forever essential, his travels and spreading of the message of Christ is unrivalled. He established the early churches and nurtured them. His words remain guiding us all these centuries later. His courage, resilience and his life are an example to all.
I cannot imagine the New Testament without him.
Hello MaryM,

What did Paul say they was not already done by the messiah and explained already by scriptures? Did Paul add anything that was confirmed by scripture?

Cheers.

Good questions.
Jesus never wrote anything himself. It was Paul and the Apostle's job to spread therefore the message and set the church in place. Which they did and Paul's was a massive part of this most precious task.

Amen, @MaryM
All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

- 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The Bible in its entirety is called the Word of God. God chose prophets and apostles to write it down so that we could read it, all of it. It is written.

If I may, I asked a question and you missed it.

If a new believer asked you how to live the Christian way of life, what would you tell them?

If we try to imagine not knowing any of Paul's writings, remove them from our memory, what would it truly change in our understanding of scripture?
Would we being following the commandments, the law as Jesus says?

Mat 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.
Mat 5:18 For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Mat 5:19 So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Blessings
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Paul said we do not void out the law but we establish the law which means to live up to the law.

The law is spiritual not physical, which is the laws of love, moral laws, which the 2 greatest laws is love God, and love people, which never can pass away.

Which the 10 commandments are laws of love towards God, and people, so we have to live up to those laws, and obey them.

Which is why Jesus told the rich man to obey the laws that have to do with loving people.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

A Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh for they have crucified the flesh with the affections, and lusts, which they can abstain from sin.

Which a Spirit led life is not under the law because their sins are forgiven, and they are not sinning, therefore the law cannot touch them for prosecution.

If a person is led of the Spirit and sins they are back under the law until they repent of it not wanting the sin anymore.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Some people have a form of godliness but they deny the Spirit leading them for they want to enjoy sin, and never come to the truth that they have to abstain from sin, so they are under the law thinking they have salvation.

They are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God which they love sin more than they love Him.

Which these people will like the belief that they were chosen in the beginning, and cannot fall not understanding the Bible, and not realizing that God's kingdom is true love.

They will like to believe they are not under the law despite their sins, and to use it as an excuse to sin enjoying it like the dickens.

Millions of these people going to and fro, walking about, around us, that are like this, which the Bible says from these type of people turn away from them.

Paul advocated keeping the law for the law is spiritual, holy, just, and good.

I would say pray first for understanding, read the bible in whatever way suits and especially Paul's letters because they are fabulous.

Pauls epistles are key for us. He puts the Lord Jesus Christ's teachings in context for us and shows us how to apply them.

Who was it that told us that Jesus is now sitting at the right hand of God, interceding for us?

Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

- Romans 8:34-39

Paul had a way of explaining and teaching so that everyone could understand him. God’s compassionate Holy Spirit flowed through him to us.

Why did God choose Paul to write most of the New Testament if God didn’t have a lot more to say to us? Why would God knock Paul down just to pick him right back up and tell him exactly what he (Paul) was to do?

As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads." So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

it is good if you understand the writings of Paul, for many, they bring confusion as we see always on many threads here on this forum. The main difference is on the commandments, that Jesus taught us to follow in the proper way. many think that they do not have to follow the commandments even if Paul says that they are good. see post no 66 @montana123
""Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.""

this is the one of differences in the teachings of the gospel by Jesus and Paul that I am trying hard for people to understand.

Also it was mentioned in scripture before Paul's writings that Jesus was sitting on the right hand of GOD;
Mrk 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
Luk 22:69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
1Pe 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

Do you follow the commandments?

Blessings,

Paul‘s gospel gospel was specifically how Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. Jesus referred to this only to his disciples and they had no understanding of the cross for it was hidden from them.

I agree. So what is the disagreement on this thread?

Of course they knew, they were witnesses to it all, Jesus announced his death beforehand, they knew also he was the messiah! these people were jews and knew scripture.

One would not have understanding of the cross if not for the Lord revealing the mystery to Paul. The Lord and his disciples preached to the Jews concerning the earthly kingdom promised to them.

Luke 18:
31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
