So, I signed up to be able to have conversations about everything, but hence I'm a follower of our Lord, all conversations revolve around that topic.
But it seems, I cannot have a chat here. I can't start it, the screen tells me, if I try.Does anyone know, what I am doing wrong?

It depends which type of chat you mean. The chat app itself fallen out of use after having multiple issues and then being removed from the play store due to not being kept updated. I think the last update was close to 6 or 7 years ago? Shortly following our platform change. At that time, anyone with membership could initiate private conversations with other members (PMs/DMs), but anyone joining after the platform change has to donate financially to the site to get that privilege, which comes with other perks, or at least one other. As far as I know, any amount is acceptable. Then there is what we do here in the forums. Even though we are typing and reading, it is called chatting also .
If someone were to initiate a PM with you, you would be able to participate in that.

Until or unless you donate, but, as I said, if someone initiates, you can participate.
