Query about different thinking of when a person dies, how come many different interpretations

Just seriously interested in what the Word says about this. When Jesus calls Lazarus to come forth from his grave, if Christ said, Lazarus come down, then that might have implied Christ was calling Lazarus down from heaven? But it wasn’t, Christ likened death to a sleep?

When one dies the body returns to the earth and the soul goes to it's proper place which is either Paradise or Hades. I personally see we christians enter an intermediate state but not a resurrected body till the Day of the Lord.

The scripture which states: the lord will ( bring with him ) those who have fallen asleep. my personal belief is this was not correctly understood. When I read it the verse could be correct but I also see the scripture saying: the Lord will ( bring up with him) those who are asleep, which denotes a resurrection.

Let's say the Llord brings those who have died with him on his return. Then they return to the earth. Then they receive their new bodies and meet the Lord in the air. Then back to heaven. Makes no sense to me and why i feel the scripture was translated wrong.

I think much of the confusion has come from religion or from what we embellish in our minds from the Word of God.

We know the Word does not contradict itself …

Jhn 11:14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead .

and

Luk 14:14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.


And Jesus could not have denied the abundance of scripture from the Old Testament like that of Ecc 9:5 6 &10

And…. how do we get around this?

Jhn 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

That revelation was given to John about 80 A.D. …to which I am sure, with Jesus being in heaven He would know if anybody else was there.



While people may get comfort thinking their loved ones are in heaven... others might get comfort thinking their enemies are being sautéed in hell…. Neither of those are true. The truth that God extends to us about those who are asleep “in Jesus” is written in 1Th 4:13 – 17 …..with verse 18 stating, that is where our comfort is → Within the hope of the return of Jesus for the Church of God, both those who are alive and those who have died “in Christ”.

Phl 1:21, 2Co 5:8 Are a couple of scripture that some use to support going to heaven when you die. But this is where embellishment enters. It does not say that Paul or anyone else goes to heaven in fact when you read the context it is almost opposite. In fact Paul calls death and enemy in 1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Additionally No place in the Bible does it state we go to Him ….it is always Him coming for us.



The soul

Lev 17:11 For the life [nephesh] of the flesh is “in the blood”: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls [nephesh]: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul [nephesh]

The word life in this verse is the same word for soul (nephesh) ….Soul life is in the blood. And soul life ceases upon death unless it is carried on through progeny. But flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1Co 15:50)

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

The Bible is very clear. Physical death is the SEPARATION of the soul and spirit from the body. The body lies in the grave and simply gives the appearance of sleep. The soul and spirit either go to Heaven or to Hades based upon that person's relationship to Christ. The soul and spirit of Lazarus were indeed in Heaven, but his body was in the tomb. So he was told to come forth out of his tomb. Resurrection means that the soul and spirit are reunited to the deceased's body.

About just what your talking about Christ had not died yet and did not have the keys so Lazarus went where all the other saints did that was not heaven...today if you die you as in the real you your new man new spirit goes to the Father you body goes back to dust and since no one truly know for fact it could be before the great tribulation or after none the less the dead will rise to meet Christ in the air. Some think we die and sleep. What matters is knowing Christ as lord savior..

Back in the day those who'd died in their mortal bodies went either to Hades or to Abraham's Bosom. They were located right next to each other with an impassable chasm separating them. After Jesus died on the cross he took everyone from Abraham's Bosom to heaven and it remains empty now, because since his death and resurrection, the saved now go straight to heaven where they'll await their heavenly bodies. The unsaved still queue up in Hades, awaiting judgment.

Revelation 6:9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”

What does this mean about the souls under the altar?

Thanks for your reply. John 14:1-4 answered the question, I’m glad Jesus said He is going to prepare a place for us, it is a blessing to know that we can trust God, there is no other way under heaven that can provide hope to mankind.

Sorry, that came out wrong. Of course I’m eager to learn a lot more of the Biblical scripture. Not just on inheriting eternal life. Sorry that came out wrong. Upon reflection, it’s like a Christian saying they want to be saved, without repenting.

Eze 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

The soul that sins shall die..

If the soul or spirit or any part of us continues to live for ever before Jesus give us life or without the gift from Christ, this verse is not true.
