Can someone explain to me what a soulmate is.
Is it like your twin. What if you werent born a twin?

Is it someone who can read your mind? Cos I dont know anyone who actually does that, though they can certainly read whatever I write thats on my mind if they want.

Is it someone who is a BFF? Because I dont always agree with BFFs

In the Bible, were Johnathan and David soulmates? Is it someone youve pledged to protect for the rest of your life?
Where does Jesus fit in with this soulmate thing or is He just someone extra.

I think Jesus would be our spirit mate.

Soulmate is a term that is thrown around with a different degree of meanings.
For myself (and I believe there were two) it was like everything clicked and you felt like you knew that person all your life... Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstance's ....neither of those trains left the station ...but the both are an unforgettable memory.

Soulmate is a mythical concept for most of us. Your soulmate is that one man who is destined to be your perfect spouse, made just for you, and you made just for him.

There ARE a (very) few places in the Bible where God made a match between a man and a woman. But evidence for EVERYONE having a soulmate is very thin on the ground. You're better off trying to find your own match. Or not.

The concept / word Soulmate is not in the Holy Bible..

David and Johnathan where very close but neither of them had the ability to read each others minds.. They where not gods.. Yeah God can read our minds He knows our every thought..

The concept of a soulmate is very much a human created delusional concept based on a fantasy of people who want a God like perfect partner.. People who are ensnared by this concept will overlook a decent partner prospect because they are always waiting for that perfect Soulmate to come along and make all their dreams come true.. The truth is,, decent long term partners do not come around every day.. There is a limited number of opportunities for people to meet and marry decent partners.. So many of those people who hold onto the delusion of getting a soulmate will end up rejecting all the decent people they have the opportunity to be with.. They end up being alone for the rest of their lives because they dug their heels in and refused to accept anything less then their ideal imagined partner..

A soulmate is a person you meet who you, in your mind, lock eyes/spirits with at once. While you're talking you feel an instant fusion almost a feeling of being one. I'm talking mainly Christians here but I've seen it with secular couples a la Bogie & Bacall. Just watch them in a movie together and you'll see their chemistry on screen. The couple who founded TBN both felt a prompting to start a Christian TV network, and almost every Pastor and wife I know are soulmates. I think it can also be developed when 2 Christians marry and become one, so to speak, in their desire to live for the Lord together💕

Bogie was an alcoholic...when he died, Bacall was bereft and couldnt function

The chemistry may have been the alcohol and cigarettes....

I haven't seen it mentioned but it's also true that i don't pay attention to much of the topics in this section of the forum.

i have the feeling you know what a soulmate is. it is this: someone you can tell anything to with trust & not even have to ask that person not to tell anyone. also, someone you can ask advice, tell secrets, & be there when you need assistance.

What does handsome mean anyway. Someone whos handy?

He left her for many months doing evangelism and her children grew up without a dad half the time but I suppose it turned out alright in the end, Franklin Graham said he had other father figures.

He did come to nz (Franklin) on a tour but I missed that. Its always interesting how sons of a preacher men turn out. And daughters....

hmm I think therapists want to be soulmates to their clients, they wont divulge their secrets but they also charge money for it.

Or your mother as dont people ask their mums for advice. If asking their dads they not likely to get any good advice lol

as for assistants apparently seeing eye dogs are very good assistants to blind people and they are always there

not saying Im blind but its likely no one person can fufill all that criteria unless Hes the name above all names....

I always thought keeping secrets is not always a good thing.
I suppose depends on what kind of secret it is... Jesus did ask people not to say he was there at certain times but that didnt always work, but then people were after his life constantly

But if its a secret like 'I stole some drugs' or 'I beat someone up' or some such thing or 'I abused you' you should probably tell someone. Bullied children are often told to keep secrets by their bullies.

most people in nz no longer marry their partners. They say its just a piece of paper, and many people have parents that arent married to each other.

even in churches you have couples that have children but arent married to each other. After five years together you are seen as married anyway even if you technically never did so or have a marriage certificate.
