Jesus turned water into wine. It was obviously alcoholic. That is the only way to make sense of the Banquet master's comment. It is in black and white. The cheap wine is brought out when the guests are too drunk to notice. There is no prohibition on drinking alcohol in the Bible. For sure drinking to excess is foolish. And yes, there are a number of warnings in God's word. It's pretty simple. If you can't control it, don't drink.

Yeast is used to make bread. I suppose bread is evil also. If I went by your understanding, I'd starve to death.
Actually, God does prefer we eat unleavened bread, but leavened bread doesn't cause the absolute devastation that alcohol does.

When a passage, or chapter, etc., is misunderstood, it is corrected by considering the rest of Scripture as a whole. That's a little fail-safe God masterminded into His book.

The Bible is clear over and over that alcohol is bad and nobody attends a wedding party taking one sip of alcohol every hour or two. The party was not wasted and Jesus did not make, or ingest, any alcoholic beverage.

Ever.

What's ridiculous, Bob, is that you were no more around when Jesus walked the earth than I was.

Yet you make comments as if I were arguing that the sky is never blue and the grass is anything but green.

I present what is made plain by Scripture, Bob.

And by loads of historical data to boot.
His genealogy is clearly Jewish as pertains to the flesh. That's in the Bible, right?
What race do you believe He is from? A Spanish Jesus could be nice. Is there a Bethlehem, Spain?

Prohibition in America did far more damage than the legal alcohol industry.
You are absolutely ... cracked.

Prohibition saved thousands of lives and families.

The alcohol industry kills so many people every single day we probably can't put an accurate number on it. People are killed, in the most horrific ways, families are destroyed, children lose parents, homes, etc.

The least of the damage is the slow wasting away that hundreds of millions of people are suffering right now as we speak and all in the name of fitting in with the cool crowds and doing what our heroes are doing on TV. So many get hooked on alcohol by seeing people they look up to in the church, or friends in college, drinking daily like it's nothing.

10 years later, they can't keep a job, can't keep friends, can't get along with family members, neighbors or anybody for that matter. It is one of the most horrible downward spirals into physical and then spiritual destruction ever perpetuated on mankind.

You are nuts if you believe what you posted.

What's ridiculous, Bob,
That "Jesus wasn't a Jew" during his incarnation. You didn't Get THAT foolishness from the Bible (although a "skilled theologian" CAN make "Black" appear to be "White"). You DO KNOW that a jew's racial identity comes from his MOTHER, don't you???

Stand in line. many have tried to destroy my creditability. Thank God its in HIS word AS i HAVE POSTED THEM. They are not my words but Bible :).
Only you can destroy your credibility, not someone else.

The Bible makes a very plain case against the negative effects of alcohol.

Contrary to your claims.

Lol your funny. I want to give you a Little biblical History about Judah and Israel One is the Southern territory (Judah) the other is the Northern Territory (Israel) they were divided by Rehoboam after Solomon As prophesied by Ahijah (1 Kings 11:31-35) FYI they are all Jews. Jesus was a Jew from the Tribe of Judah. I never said Jesus was a Jew like today, but he came from the Location and known as Israel. No one Murdered Jesus. Unless you mean your's and my sin.

Jesus said "No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
John 10:18
Yeah, yeah. I know all that and it doesn't change anything I've stated.

You just don't know your Bible very well. At least you can fix that.

The Bible plainly declares the Jews killed Jesus.

"... the Jews: who both killed Jesus and their own prophets, ..."
1 Thess. 2:14-15

Actually, YES.

I DO know that.

What you CLEARLY don't know is that the term Jew was not even a word at all at the time Jesus walked the earth. The people YOU believe to be Jews in Jesus' time were not at all Jews as you understand Jewry.

The Bible couldn't be more clear as to what Christ thought of the Jews of His day.

'For fear of the Jews' was repeated over and over in the Gospels. Jesus spoke nothing BUT harshly about the Jews of His time. There is not the most remote possibility that Jesus was a Jew, by blood OR religion, and it is absolutely obvious as it could possibly be in the Scriptures.

I'm sorry that you are unaware of what you are talking about, but we don't know a thing until we learn it and all Christendom has lied to you about this subject for as long as you've been learning anything at all about God or the Bible.

It's much easier to fool someone than to get them to admit they've been fooled.

You have been fooled, my friend. And the Bible fully supports that fact.

How could Jesus have an opinion on people you claim did not even exist? .

Luk 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

Here wine is equated alongside strong drink....that's because wine is also high in alcohol content.

Eph_5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

You can't get drunk on non-alcoholic wine.

1Ti_3:8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

Tit_1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

Even a Deacon or Bishop is allowed to drink some alcoholic wine, just not over indulging.

Tit_2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

Same idea here.

1Ti_5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

Medical advice. Sometimes wine is better to have than water.

Hey, you're the one that said not drinking booze is un biblical movement based on the experience of former alcoholics..

A statement like that leads others to believe that it's OK to drink the booze!

I thought I'd get clarification... so are you FOR drinking the booze, or AGAINST drinking the booze??? View attachment 258210
I was standing against the position that the Bible declares drinking alcohol was a sin.. And that Jesus never drunk alcohol..

It is ok to drink alcohol in moderation..

As for my personal position i do not drink alcohol because of a family history of susceptibility to alcoholism.. So i avoid the possibility of becoming an alcoholic by not drinking alcohol.. But that is a personal decision that is NOT based on some Bible based teaching to not drink alcohol.. It is based on my observation of my family history..

If other people can drink in moderation and avoid getting drunk then i have no problem with them doing so and neither does the Bible have any problems in them doing so..

So there i have made my position clear..

Not everybody has the same upbringing as you, Adstar.

I learned every single thing I know about life, and the Bible, from first-hand experience and from my own study and research, guided by the Holy Spirit.

Ever read this verse before?
1 Jn. 2:27
Then on this issue you have been guided by your own belief on what the Bible should say rather then what the Bible actually says..

1 John 2:27 "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."

Yes thats a good verse and so i seek to rely on the Holy Bible and never take the preaching of preachers as the Word of God.. Therefore when a preacher says that drinking alcohol is sin i will reject that preaching as uninspired and stand on the Word of God that teaches that drinking alcohol in moderation is OK..

Yes it is so clear.. But they will doggedly ignore all those verses and stand in the position that the Bible teaches total abstinence when it teaches no such thing.. Too many people follow the preaching of men and what they believe religion should be rather then the actual Word of God..

Never.

Jesus would not, and did not, ingest alcohol.

Jesus is all about purity of body and soul. There is nothing at all pure about alcohol. It is toxic to the human body. It is poison. It is great as an antiseptic, sure. It kills microorganisms and bacteria that it comes into contact with.

Good for human ingestion? Not so much. Take a good look at the fermentation process and think again if it makes any sense at all that Jesus would make, or serve, alcohol to anyone.

Alcohol is literally the feces of the yeast microorganism. The yeast consumes the sugar of fruits/vegetables and excretes alcohol. It also flatulates carbon dioxide so the carbonation, all the little bubbles in wine, is the gas that exits the yeast's rectum.

Does this sound like a holy and pure substance that Christ would enjoy or give to many people to ingest after they had all "well drunken"?

The fact is that wine in the Bible is referred to by a single English word when the original language used multiple words to refer to what we call wine and also what we call grape juice (unfermented).

Jesus never drank alcohol and what He actually made was pure, fresh grape juice from water - as much of a miracle as creating alcohol, if not more so.

Contrary to popular belief, the Bible speaks negatively of ingesting alcohol in many places.

George Cruikshank's painting "The Worship of Bacchus" was a very well known and sought after work in its day. It depicts how society uses alcohol and is destroyed by it. Bacchus is the ancient Greek god of wine and intoxication.

Here is a great link about the painting and what it was all about:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1120541/
so the people were well drunken and then they tasted grape juice and were like "wow this is great!".
thats so unhistorical and inaccurate its just a sad attempt by the tee totalers to be holier than Jesus.

truth = they used wine in the days of the apostles, regularly. water quality was bad.
