OT yes but I personally believe today its like well where the Prophet "When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ” . We have the holy Spirit today in each of us so I believe if prophet had a word it would witness to what I already know yet not always. I will say our personal belief plays a huge part in what we hear and don't hear from God. If we tell Him we do not believe in this or that He will not ever go against your will. I learned at around 15 years old that God is not some light switch we can turn on or off He is always on. He talks more then we ever do. If we don't hear were doing something wrong its not Him.
What part of this life are we to carry our selfs? Yeah cast all your care on Him for He cares for you. I know there are true yet there are soooo many prophets and Apostles that don't seem to have all the gifts that must be those offices.
And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.”
Truly, I say to you, I shall not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”

The church age began at the resurrection. This outpouring, at the time for the 120 in the upper room, was not the "seal" of the Spirit at salvation. Note that 3000 were saved that day, yet none of them received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Two separate works of the Holy Spirit.
A true Bible believer should still be seeking this Baptism with the same zeal we seek everything of the Lord.
I know some people will say "it left with the death of the 12 Apostles, but there wasn't 120 apostles in the upper room, was it?
Such things are the words of man, & have no spiritual value. Those who speak against these things speak against Christ, for He is the Baptizer. Those who say the seal of the Spirit & the Baptism are the same are false teachers.

I have seen also on the web since a few years back, reports that many Muslims did see Jesus in dreams and visions but I have never heard of such a news where many all at once has dreams about Jesus, I had one of these dreams about Jesus also a few weeks back.

Oyster, you and I look at the scriptures much differently as I see many mysteries. Take the feeding of the 4 & 5 thousand when he said---Do you not understand?? Mark 8:21. Why did the Lord question his disciples about how many baskets they picked up?

Not at all. But it is the Holy Spirit who has told us through the apostle John that no additional prophesies are to be added to what is in Revelation.
That's correct, cannot add or subtract from the prophecies in the book of Revelation.

Any new prophecy since AD 96 would be adding to the prophecies in Revelation (the final prophetic book from God).
I think people can receive prophecies but not in the same "appointed "ways that described the prophets of the O.T. or given by the Apostles and Christ. The true prophets were mandated by the LORD and were asked to preach what they knew about what was given to them to preach mostly as warnings of wrong doings and possible repercussions to come. however the words of Christ in JOHN 16:13 shows that the HOLY SPIRIT can announce things to come the the true believers.

Hello. I would say that someone should not be put in that position. It is the job of shepherds to guard the flock against wolves. Ezekiel chapter 34 shows how important this is to the heart of the Lord. If false prophets are allowed space in a church it is a sign of a failure of leadership. God Bless
In my AG church (Crossroads of life AG in Desoto, TX), manifesting the gifts is ONLY ALLOWED when the pastoral leadership KNOWS/approves the speaker.
Only if the prophecy is adding or subtracting from the book of Revelation.

I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
Paul is directly instructing you to seek the higher gifts.
1 Corinthians 14:1
Pursue love, yet earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
You are contradicting Paul and attempting to nullify the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:28
And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, and various kinds of tongues.
Paul trained the young leaders of the Christian Church when he was an elderly man. Paul trained them in the full ministry of evangelism, prophecy, and every other gift of the Holy Spirit.
...and between studying context, other scriptural references, and seeking the understanding provided by the Spirit, I see many answers.
I do but I believe it applies to all the saints.

Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
The preacher, or anyone else does not get more wisdom, or knowledge, of God's word than anyone else for all saints get all known to them equally.
The Spirit shows all the saints things to come equally.
God said He identifies Himself as the one true God by showing us the end from the beginning which no other religion or person will be able to do.
It is all in the Bible for all saints to know which God tells us what is going on today which is a useful tool because prophesy can reach out to people that the word of God is true for He told us what will happen, and we tell them what shall happen before it happens.
For years the saints have been saying the world will come together with a one world government, and religious system, and it will not be long and it will happen, and then what shall they say which many people will say they were right and then be curious about the word of God.
It does not always work saying God loves you, or Jesus loves you, to get their attention, but sometimes prophesy will get them.
