Revelation 11:8 KJV
And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city,

which spiritually is called
Sodom and Egypt,
where also our Lord was crucified.

Thank you. Are everyone who are living there today descendants of Abraham?
My daughter did a trip to Israel and surrounding countries back in 2012.

She said, “Mum, you would love to see the city of Jerusalem, it’s like the whole world in one place.”

and said that she would love to live there, because each day was a bonus.

One could also ask, "Is Israel really searching?"
Of course they are... the terrorists are embedded underground so the IDF is rooting them out and will eventually fill all those tunnels with concrete which will be paid for out of the relief money sent to the Palestinians.

The IDF is struggling to get the job done in case you have not noticed, so far their strategy is bombing innocent children.

No, Hamas is using women and children as human shields and this is being documented yet again as this was continues as it has been documented in past wars with the palestinians.

They had one of their military operations centers under a hospital in gaza and this is documented by journalists from other countries that have been allowed to come in and verify (not journalists from Israel)

Hamas passed a 10 month old baby, a baby, to another terrorist group. Don't try and tell me the give a :poop: about their people or the hostages. They never have, they are terrorizing Israel all over again with these hostages. They are worse than animals.

A Jewish person cannot get to Heaven unless they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior... just like any other person.

They are still God's chosen people since God promised Abraham that He would bless Abraham's descendants. This doesn't mean they are in right standing with the Lord since as a nation they teach that Jesus is not the Messiah

On the other hand, it's obvious the Lord has blessed and protected Israel in modern times. God's Word says we should pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6)
And He also removes branches and grafts branches into the root. Israel now consist of people from every nation, it doesn't matter male or female, gentile or Jew, rich or poor, we who are in Jesus are in Israel now, we are grafted into the root. That includes a LOT of Jewish Israelis, but those who reject Jesus are not, they can't be having rejected the ONLY way. This is the truth, and Jesus calls ALL to come and join Him. He is the ONLY Way, the ONLY Truth, and the ONLY way to Life, I just never want to act like there is "another plan" for the Jews today. The plan for Jews in Israel today are the same they were 2000 years ago, Jesus.

So I guess my short answer is those in Israel today that are in Jesus are pleasing in Gods eye's, and those that reject Him are the same as anyone else that rejects Jesus. I'd like to hear the argument against this, if there is one.

op: What is the standing of Israel in God's Eyes right now?
...what is His standing with the people within the land right now, this moment? What are they to do, repent? What are they to do, trust the God who led them out of Egypt would fight for them? Perhaps I am asking about the people and their faith in Jesus, the people who are currently living in Israel...
Precious friend, according to Scripture:

Rom 11:25 "For I would not, brethren, that ye should
be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in
your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened
to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."
+
Rom_11:32 "For God Hath Concluded them all in
unbelief, that He might have Mercy upon all."

In prophecy [past/future], Israel [the nation] was/will be prominent
'in God's Eyes', but, Today Under Grace (in The Revelation Of The Mystery),
in God's Eyes, all individuals are now all Equal!:

Rom_3:22 "Even the righteousness of God which is
by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them
that believe: for there is no difference:"
+
Rom_10:12 "For there is no difference between the Jew
and the Greek: for The Same Lord over all is Rich unto
all that call upon Him."

Thus, yes, all today need "to repent and believe The Gospel
Of The Grace Of God!"

Amen.

Yes, Jews will be saved the same way we all are, through Christ. We, the church, do not replace the Jews. Wow, that lie took hold, false doctrine is hard to break free from.

I never said anything remotely close to being an advocate for these terrorists homie!

This is true... that fat pastor from San Antonio Texas is part of the problem.

He teaches Jews don't have to go thru Jesus to be saved. I think his name is Fat Boy John Hagee or something like that.

I don't think he has ever done any fasting or push aways from the dinner table smile_happy.gif

Lol I think CC is making me a better follower of Jesus. I realize we are all going to the same heaven. My mansion to be right next door to Moses or worse He is Here! And so I try and pull back on the reigns. Have to pray "Lord keep my spirit right". And besides, we can totally disagree on this one thing and agree just as much on another subject. Well maybe not with HisH but miracles do happen from time to time. Thank you sister, I feel the same about you. I appreciate you whether we agree or disagree and I'm sure if we all met for a coffee or whatever is your choice, we would become fast friends.

Psst I'm not a sipping saint but if He Is Here is coming I'm gonna need somethin' stronger than coffee.;)

"A Hopeless pursuit" -- Not

Matthew 24:36. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Here is the standard interpretation of this verse:

The clearer message of this comment is that pinning down the moment of Christ's return is a hopeless pursuit. It cannot be known. Any teacher, religious group, or sect who attempts to assign a date to the return of Christ is speaking falsehood. Period. No human being can know more about the timing of Christ's return than this: when these dramatic signs are occurring (Matthew 24:15, 29–30), everyone will know the end has come. Until then, nothing in God's revealed plan for future history stands in the way. Jesus is near, standing at the gates (Matthew 24:33). He could arrive at any moment. Even if His return is many years away, each of us is an instant away from the end of our earthly life.

However, here is what Jesus says immediately after:

Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Imagine telling Noah it was a hopeless pursuit. When Noah started building the ark he didn't know the day or the hour of the flood. He was a preacher of righteousness so when he was preaching we can also assume he didn't know the day or the hour. However, the prophecy said that when Methuselah died the end would come and when Methuselah did die Noah and his family entered the ark, seven days before the flood, so he may not have known for 600 years, but he was given a one week heads up to get into the ark.

Matthew 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Again, compare what Jesus is saying with what the standard teaching says. Being clueless that the flood was about to come only refers to those in the world, it didn't refer to Noah and his family.

Matthew 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

I think this is a clear reference to the rapture. The word taken refers being taken alongside as a close personal friend while "left" is a reference to being divorced. This is referring to those in the gospel field and those who are teaching the word (grinding the word up to feed to the sheep as bread).

Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

The point is to watch, not that watching is a hopeless pursuit. Jesus told us what to watch for, He didn't tell us when we would see it. Imagine if He had said to wait for two thousand years and then you will see it, how would that have impacted church history? That would have encouraged laziness, we would be those twiddling their thumbs waiting for some future event. Farmers don't know the date they will harvest but they do know what to watch for. A pregnant mother doesn't know the date the baby will be born but she does know what to watch for.

Matthew 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

Suppose I am watching and I am seeing they are poisoning the food to create a famine. I can prepare by stocking up food so that my family is not killed. Suppose I see they are going to poison the water supply. I can buy a water filter so that my family is not poisoned. We can watch and see many things and as a result take the proper action to protect our house.

Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Don't listen to those who say "the Lord is not coming back right now". Jesus said right here that this is what they would be saying.

Matthew 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

There is a due season when you should be giving the household of the saints certain words. Right now would be an excellent time to talk about Psalm 83. I can imagine twenty years ago or two hundred years ago would not have been an ideal time. But as we see Psalm 83 war played out in Israel it would be good to teach God's people this prophecy. This might also be a great time to warn them about Isaiah 17 and the destruction of Damascus as a prophecy marking the beginning of the day of the Lord's judgment.

46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

The Lord doesn't say that you will be blessed if you are simply regurgitating canned sermons. You have to adjust your speaking and teaching based on what season it is for the church. Two thousand years ago it was a time of sowing, now it is a time of reaping.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

The context of these verses is about the Lord's coming. It is clear that at the time of the Lord's coming there will be evil servants who say the Lord is delaying His coming. Speaking the truth about world events is required, it isn't optional.

49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

When you beat up Christians who are talking about the rapture and the world events, trying to ridicule and humiliate them, and when you are eating and drinking with those drunk on the world's wine, you are in a place where you will be severely punished by the Lord. As James says the judgment on those who teach others the word of God is more severe.

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

Do you see that the teaching that the Lord can come any day is akin to the Lord coming in a day when the servant is not looking for Him. There are signs, when we see the signs we can see the day approaching and we are told to look up at that time because our redemption draws near. This evil servant is not looking at the signs and is ridiculing those that do and he doesn't even want the Lord to come because he is eating and drinking with the drunken.

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

It will be very bad for those who are not watching and who are teaching others that watching is a "hopeless pursuit".

How many times must He say this?

Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

34 For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Here is the one verse in Mark that says no one knows the day or the hour, and in this portion three times Jesus says "watch".

1. Take heed, watch and pray:

why?

for you know not when the time is.

2. Watch ye therefore:

why?

for ye know not when the master of the house cometh

3. What I say unto you I say unto all, Watch

Just in case we thought this word was just to the apostles or just to the pastors or the elders.

This is not a "hopeless pursuit" it is our job, it is our assignment. We are commanded to watch.

All this commentary about Mat 24, yet you've left out the most interesting part in my opinion, Mat 24:32-35
32 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, cat the very gates. 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

You completely omitted this from your Matthew rundown, maybe because it kind of hurts certain eschatological viewpoints, but Jesus looking the people of that time and place in the eyes and after they ask "when will these things take place", and answering them "Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place", gives me the impression that they would happen before that generation passed, and did. That age ended exactly when and how Jesus said it would, exactly.

The entire chapter of 24 is essential and I have done a verse by verse breakdown of the chapter in my blog "summary of Bible references concerning the rapture".

As for Matthew 24:35 I easily found 6 posts on the topic in my blog doing a simple search. So no, I do not avoid verses in the Bible. And I will go over Matthew 24 in detail here as you have requested.
