lol yes facetious,, To me I think Bernie Sanders should have never used the words "social democracy" because when he did I knew that most US citizens would never understand that in the US the programs that fall under "Social WELFARE in the United States" are programs that most citizens really do not want them to end. https://www.ssa.gov/history/aja964.html I'm not especially fond of either the Democratic or Republican party but the US has pretty much always been a social democracy in that it provides education,SS,SSDI, unemployment insurgence ect.ect. even the stimulus checks, renters assistance, ect. that they gave out is a type of social welfare given to aid people during the pandemic(it's social democracy at work). Anyway they must get a really big kick out of joking about it at the private GOP parties the joke probably goes like "I know we'll say Social Democracy is communism and it will draw voters to us because they wont ever realize that it's the SS,education ect. they'll just get scared and vote for us,lol" And no I don't think they should de-fund the police or the military....
Gotcha. You clearly understand. It is a rather difficult task to explain this to some people though.

That is definitely not what he was suggesting. National security, infrastructure building and maintenance, police law enforcement, etc are all valid reasons for government spending.

They key issue is a balanced budget, and that can and should be the goal of all governments. Instead there is a huge national debt because Socialism and social "programs" have resulted in the government throwing away billions or (trillions) of dollars. The problem now is that Communistic principles and practices have become the religion of all governments (primarily to buy voter support using tax dollars). A part of this religion is TOTALITARIANISM, since Communism cannot exist without that.
"Valid reasons" are pretty subjective though. What appears to be valid for some don't appear to be valid for others. Ultimately, people vote for their political party team who loves to use taxes for the people that fund their campaigns. The US has this Savior complex where we like to pretend we are the world's police and spend trillions upon trillions of dollars funding wars. When are we going to learn our lesson?

I also wonder why corporate welfare is never pointed out when we talk about social welfare. The problem is multifaceted.

He only presents one side. While it's humorous, it doesn't address the entire scope of things that should be considered.
Welfare today takes people out of the workforce who should be working. Further, it promotes the break up of families and generally removes personal responsibility for oneself and one's family.
While I've met very few people who will not help people get back on their feet, I agree with those who believe that many have been conditioned to a lifestyle of continual dependency. There is no reason for able-bodied people to receive help when they can provide for themselves.
It's not about trying to balance the budget on the backs of the less fortunate. It's about the immorality of taking free people and enslaving them for others to control. Free markets produce wealth and provides opportunities. Socialism steals the incentive to produce wealth. Communism steals the wealth. Both reduce wealth and cause greater suffering.

No in the US you MUST WORK(have a job) unless you are not able(disabled) that's part of the brainwashing that's being pulled over everyone's head about it(what you said in your post) https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/work-requirements There's a whole lot of people in Texas for instance that are on welfare because THEY QUALIFY... But why they qualify is because minimum wage is 7.25 and so 7.25x40 is 290.00x4 means they only make 1160.00 a month. (it's the political game they play where Abbott brags about all the jobs he created in Texas but don't tell you you only get 7.25 an hour)...Check the minimum wage in the Red southern states and see who qualifies...

Yes, this is a symptom of corporate welfare. There are tax breaks for employing x amount of people, but they must provide benefits if they work y amount of hours. Many corporations like do the absolute minimum to avoid giving people a living wage/paying for benefits while doing just enough to get tax breaks. Sure, it's legal...

Yep and the Red states in the south are receiving a vast amount of those credits, dollars ect. because they keep low minimum wages in effect to so that their population qualifies.

Texas is a little different story. Because of all the illegals, there is a glut of workers. The supply of labor is high, the price of labor is driven down. Here in South Carolina, most entry-level jobs pay 1 and a half to over 2 times this amount. And it's still hard to find workers.
I work 2 or 3 jobs, and do what it takes to provide for my family. I believe this should be everyone's attitude, but sadly it is not. God said 6 days thou shalt work. Alot of poverty could be avoided if this was the practice of more people. But because people have been conditioned to look to others rather than themselves for help, programs which should have been stepping stones have become permanent fixtures.
The causes are certainly more widespread than this and can largely be laid at the feet of the church. I believe the church is largely ineffective today because it doesn’t actually meet people's needs. This has allowed crooked governments to buy votes using other people's money. And there are plenty other causes to bear the blame. And the problems related to the welfare state will not be solved anytime soon. But surely if I can support a family of 9 on my earnings alone, others can find a way to support those who are in their care.

The universities, colleges, and schools have all been indoctrinating kids and young people with Communism for decades, while the "conservatives" simply stood by. And this is why so many want so-called "socialism" (which in fact is Communism). Now the Democratic Party is in full Communist mode, but the RINOs continue to help these Communists destroy America.

Hmm, yea I think it's a lot of mind control, fake news stuff where they are just showing us things on TV. My wife's family immigrated into New Spain back in about 1560(far back as we found records). New Spain included what is now Texas and up to about Colorado at that time. Years later it became the country of Mexico and so they lived in Mexico then it was the Republic of Texas and then Texas joined the United States. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Pedro,_Texas

So the whole time they lived on the same ranch in San Pedro(now San Pedro Texas) but over time if you notice they have been citizens of four different nations but never moved anywhere. Over time they married and spread out and lived/live in San luis Potosi,Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon(states in Mexico). I'm meaning the family members though the families that branched out from the Balli's https://www.nps.gov/pais/learn/historyculture/padre-balli.htm ,,, https://ancestors.familysearch.org/en/LHZS-G7D/juan-jose-balli-1805-1853 or Naranjo's from San Pedro.

Anyway though not to bore anyone with a lot of family history but San Pedro is about one mile north of the Rio Grand and when our family has our get-to-gethers we usually ask them if there are actually millions and millions of illegals sneaking across their property like the news says. Now we watch the same news as everyone else and we try to figure out where this place is where this is going on in the news. They say it's like eight million illegals since Biden took office but they must be counting everyone that's flying into the US from other nations or those crossing the border on business or just to visit or something. The just of it is that it probably does happen(not at my families property it's more like 3-4 a year, lol). You know if you think about it they even slipped up and admited to buttering it up when Desantis sent his crew to San Antonio to find illegals to fill the two jets(they searched for two or three weeks and only found 48) so their not just all over the place in Texas like your being told, lol https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/02/us/migrants-marthas-vineyard-desantis-texas.html

Usually when stories aren't true, there is pushback from the other side. I haven't heard one story that says the 8 million figure is false from the left. The border is a wreck. Fentanyl isn't carrying itself across the border. Thirteen people on the terror watch list caught trying to enter just last month. The last 3 years under Trump only 12 were apprehended. Democratic states complaining about illegals.

Bare in mind now that I don't trust the neither of the two(Democrats or Republicans) but,,,don't you realize your admitting that Democrats can catch 13 people on the watch list a month but the Republicans under Trump could only catch 12 in 3 years? Why wasn't Fentanyl smugglers in the news back when Trump was in office were they just not as good at it as now?

8 million since Biden took office equals about 8,000 a day, estimates are that 6,000 would come in normally and 2,000 would be gotaways.

Our border with Mexico is about 2,000 miles so on average that would be 1 person per mile per day for got aways. Of course we have 50 border crossings where they can legally cross, so that would average out to 120 per border crossing per day for the legal ones. I have seen videos of some of the borders which are obviously much more than that.

Just like a dot in a circle you immediately turned your focus to just the Mexican border and neglected the border in Canada along with those flying in from Vietnam,,Germany,,Russia,,ect.ect.

I have been watching Steve Bannon's coverage daily on this and they show people from all over the world including all the "Stan" nations, all the Caribbean nations, central and South America as well as China coming through our Southern border. They also have live feeds, videos, etc. I have not seen any reporting at all on immigrants coming in from Canada.

Trump had illegal border crossings at 10% of what they are now. Fentanyl has been a problem for awhile, but nothing like now. And terrorists weren't coming under Trump. Who knows what's coming across the borders these days. But to suggest it isn't the worst it's ever been is laughable. I like what Sarah Huckabee Sanders did in Arkansas. She kicked the Chinese off their farmland and fined them $280,000.00. Every state should do the same.

How soon we forget in the midst of the brainwashing... Nope there were caravans of immigrants coming at that time and they were separating parents from children during that time frame... https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politi...rhetoric-and-the-truth-about-migrant-caravans https://www.americanoversight.org/a-timeline-of-the-trump-administrations-family-separation-policy

It seems like you have animosity towards Trump, why is that?

It's a Trump thread(see the OP) then again if you start a Biden thread then there's as much dirt in the other direction. Did you know that the largest donation to the elect Joe Biden campaign was from Sam Bankman-fried? Yep the guy just found guilty for.....
