The Grace Movement (By: Frederick E. Lewis –
http://www.biblicaladvancedbasics.com)

The Grace Movement began in the 1930’s during the time of recovery of the
fourth truth of the distinctive message and ministry of the Apostle Paul via
John C. O'Hair, Charles F. Baker, Cornelius R. Stam, et al. Here is a tracing of
the steps that led to this Movement.

In II Timothy 1:15 the Apostle Paul writes:

“This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned
away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.”

It was at that time that the distinctive message and ministry of the Apostle
Paul began to be lost. This plunged the Christian church into a downward spiral
that resulted in the further loss of:

the truth of the pre-tribulational rapture of the church the body of Christ; the
difference between Israel and the body of Christ; and the truth of justification
by faith alone, in Christ alone.

Over twenty years earlier Luke wrote in Acts 13:39 a quotation from a sermon
by the Apostle Paul concerning justification:

“And by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things
from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.”

Some historians have concluded that the loss of these truths contributed in
a major way to bringing in the historical period called the dark ages. It is
suggested by the chart below that these truths were lost in a particular order
and that they were recovered in reverse order.

First: The Distinctive Message & Ministry of the Apostle Paul - II Timothy 1:15

Second: The Pre-Tribulational Rapture of the Church, the Body of Christ

Third: The Difference between Israel and the Church, the Body of Christ

Fourth: Justification by Faith Alone, in Christ Alone - Acts 13:39

Pauline Truths Recovered (Order of Recovery)

First: Justification by Faith Alone, in Christ Alone Recovered via Protestant
Reformation in the 16th Century via Luther, et al

Second: The Difference between Israel and the Church, the Body of Christ
Recovered in the 1800's via John Nelson Darby, Ethelbert William Bullinger,
Sir Robert Anderson, et al

Third: The Pre-Tribulational Rapture of the Church, the Body of Christ Recovered
in the 19th Century via John Nelson Darby and included by C.I. Scofield in his
Reference Bible, published 1909

Fourth: The Distinctive Message & Ministry of the Apostle Paul Recovered from
the middle 1900’s via John C. O'Hair, Charles F. Baker, Cornelius R. Stam, et al
----------------
During this entire process of loss and recovery of these truths, we saw the
formation of most all of the over 400 denominations that can be observed
today. The total revelation, given to the Apostle Paul by the Lord Jesus Christ,
during Paul’s ministry of approximately thirty years, is referred to as The Mystery.

A key point in understanding The Mystery is that God began a new program at
that time to deal with His creation. The former program, called the prophetic
program or the kingdom, concerned the Jews first, was prophesied by the
prophets, had an earthly hope and calling, and involved the Twelve Apostles.

This prophetic or kingdom program will be resumed after the current program
has run its course at the rapture of the Body of Christ. The current program,
called The Mystery, concerns the Jews and Gentiles alike, was not forecast in
the prophetic Scriptures; it was hid in God, has a heavenly hope and calling,
and involves One Apostle, Paul.

Understanding The Mystery makes it possible to understand that there are
no denominations in the Bible and each current denomination is unique
based upon which parts of the previous program are combined with the
current program. All of the differences of Bible interpretation can be linked
to this improper combining of two separate programs of God. A basic tool
then would be to divide the Bible into the two parts.

The chart below will identify which books of the Bible are written about
which program. (Note, the books of Acts and Hebrews are transitional from
one program to the other.)

Rightly Divided Bible Books.png

In II Timothy 2:15 we read:

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing The Word Of Truth.”

It is this principle of right division that makes it possible to understand the
Bible, amid all the denominational confusion. Remember what we read in
I Corinthians 14:33:

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of
peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”
If Satan wants to confuse the body of Christ (and you better believe he does)
what better way than to try to keep the members arguing over all the
denominational differences that have accumulated over the years.

I’ve heard it said that Romans 16:25: “...the preaching of Jesus Christ, According to
The Revelation of The Mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,”
is
Satan’s worst nightmare and I believe this to be accurate.

There is a passage in I Corinthians that points out that the “princes of this world”
(or rulers, which would include physical as well as spiritual), would have done
differently had they known the significance of the Cross: I Corinthians 2:7,8:

“But we speak the wisdom of God in a Mystery, even the hidden
wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they
known it, they would not have crucified The Lord Of Glory.”

A summary of the major points contained within the beliefs of the
Grace Movement is as follows:

Mid-Acts Dispensational System of Bible Interpretation
Pre-Tribulational Rapture of the Church, the Body of Christ
Principle of Right Division (Dividing Prophecy from Mystery)
Kingdom Gospel Differentiated from Gospel of the Grace of God
Futurist Position for Understanding the Book of Revelation
Premillennial View of the Future Earthly Kingdom
Spiritual Baptism by the Holy Spirit of all Believers
Observance of the Lord’s Supper “Till He Come”
Eternal Security of Believers in the Body of Christ

Though I agree in large part I believe the distinction between the Church (made up of Jews and Gentiles) [Act 14:1 (and before)] and the Body of Christ in which there is neither Jew nor Greek [Gal. 3:28] occurred ~63 AD. Thus some of the rules [Acts 15:19-20] that pertained prior to them were no longer in operation. And we get the epistle [Eph. 2:14-17] which tells us that He [Christ] "annulled the enmity in his flesh, the law of commandments in ordinances, that he might form the two in himself into one new man, making peace..." thus removing the differences, distinctions, and ordinances that pertained only to one particular type of person (e.i. - Jew or Gentile).

The Church is in fact the Body of Christ. See Ephesians 5. You should keep that in mind and not pay attention to false teachers. The Grace Movement is Hyper- or Ultra- Dispensational and is misleading people.

Ephesians 5:23:
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Ephesians 5:24:
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Ephesians 5:25:
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:26:
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Ephesians 5:27:
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Ephesians 5:28:
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Ephesians 5:29:
For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Ephesians 5:30:
For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Ephesians 5:31:
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 5:32:
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Ephesians 5:33:
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

I see the distinction here in Eph. 5 (and elsewhere). I am sorry you do not. Note the difference "we are members of his body" vs "even as the Lord the church". To me this is showing a distinction.

No there is no distinction. The Church is in fact the Body of Christ: And He is the Head of the Body, the Church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. (Col 1:18)

Kindly stop promoting false teachings.

I am not sure this is addressed to me. The Scofied Reference Bible (1910) is GENERALLY very sound and biblical.

At the same time Scofield had some ideas which were not really biblical. One of them was the Gap Theory. Which shows that all commentators are subject to error. For example Matthew Henry is generally sound, but you will find some erroneous interpretations even in his commentary.

The Grace Movement is a mixture of truth and error. Any Christian group which rejects the proper Christian baptism of believers after salvation, and by immersion, is suspect. They have absolutely no authority to promote such error.
there are two types of grace mentioned in the nt scripture one is grace in accordance with the truth the other is a distortion of the term grace used to erase the truth

Gods grace that saves people

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-14‬ ‭

the distortion of the term grace that destroys people

“For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭

The only difference is when we remove this part that teaches us to deny lust and sin and live upright lives

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

because in the end this is written to those who believe

“Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; but glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: for there is no respect of persons with God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:4-5, 7-11‬ ‭

When we read things like this it actually is true thisnos why gods grace that saved teaches us to repent of doing evil and to do good instead see if we’re going to be judged like Paul is clearly saying here by our works , then we need to acknolwedge the parts that teach us to repent and act right this part

“teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;”

and this part

gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

why would that matter to salvstion ?

“righteous judgment of God; to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life….glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:”

and then the other side of that

“but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;”

Gods Grace includes the teachings of Jesus that teach us to stop sinning because it’s death and to start loving others in deed and truth because one day we have to be judged by our deeds and words like Paul is saying there

“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life;

and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:28-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Notice there is no group who is told “ your works don’t matter “ in any place in scripture judgement is always the same

“For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭20:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:13-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭

The only issue with modern grace distortions is that they won’t accept what’s clearly written down from the beginning to end of the Bible the warnings we don’t want to hear that seem scary and challenging to us are the things we need to hear most

We aren’t saved yet , we’re promised salvation if we persevere in faith but also warned about sin and death if we won’t repent

You just quoted form "Frederick E. Lewis ". Thanks its what he believed not sure why you posted it. if this is something you like and you agree with praise GOD. Others don't agree with him. Something within your post I give you one not to old to show you not condemn but how so many never ever search. In a book written 1687 (yes I know who wrote this and the others after 1687) wrote about Christ coming back for us before the great tribulation. And there are many others "written" after 1687 and before 1687. I always take the time to search no matter what I think I know when I read a post as if it was the 1st time. Now it just means they did talk about it preach about it. I don't know why some fail to search when they have the WORLD of INFO in their hands. Like talking about some Grace Church and they leave out message after message saying we all need to repent can't freely sin.

Again if you agree with Lewis praise GOD! Not going to touch that man of God. Oh would have loved to just listen to him.. so what if I disagreed in somethings.. oh to just listen..

I see you listed the Scofield Bible. Do you then believe in the Gap theory?
thank you for your reply but no, I was asking Grace_ambassador.
Thanks for your input.

Are you referring to the gap (theory) in creation? A: no

Or the gap ( parenthetical Age Of Grace ) between
the 69th and 70th weeks of Daniel? A: yes

We aren’t saved yet, we’re promised salvation if we persevere in faith but also warned about sin and death if we won’t repent
After all those words (too wordy) you just distorted the grace of God!

For by grace are ye [ALREADY] saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God [THAT SETTLES IT]: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Eph 2:8,9)

I have added "already" since what is stated is in the PAST TENSE. In order to match your false teaching, the verse would say "YOU SHAL BE SAVED". Salvation is either the gift or God or it isn't.

So it seems that you are constantly mixing truth and error.

When one is saved he will perform the works given him by God. If one does not do works after being saved, he is an ingrate and not worthy, wearing filthy garments to to the Wedding............ he is thrown into the outer darkness.

It is in the Book.

Respectfully disagree; not all the 'members' of the Body Of Christ are going
to be faithful, but All "made worthy By God" (Col 1:12) members Shall Be
Saved By The
Precious BLOOD Of Christ!:

The Eternally Saved 'carnal ' Corinthian members of the Body Of Christ were
were Not 'performing the works' Given them By God, being all "Divided
Up/Disobedient" and they and some/many Today Will Suffer 'the
consequences' at The Judgment Seat Of Christ! 1 Corinthians 3:15:
"If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss:
but he himself Shall Be Saved; yet so as by fire."

Not condemnation to "the lake of fire," but LOSS of rewards, Correct?

Amen.

"Giving thanks unto The Father, Which Hath Made us meet { worthy }
to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (Col 1:12)
