Acts 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. 5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. 6And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

Ananias was instantly judged similarly as happened in the Old Testament several times. Has instant judgement ended until Christ returns?

I submit that Peter was an apostle who was sealed with the Holy Spirit. God was talking through Peter. Just the same everyone assumes today they are sealed with the Holy Spirit.

1 Timothy 5:24

"Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after."
amen if we repent now our sins go before us to judgement being forgiven

“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:6-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we can repent and give our sins to the cross and be forgiven now before we have to do this

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We want repentance and remission of sins before judgement day which is what the gospel offers unto salvation

“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:45-49‬ ‭KJV‬‬

aid were trying to serve god by the end of testament word of Moses the law then it’s the opposite of repentance and remission of sins it is imputation and condemnation for sin

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19-20‬

The gospel is about repentance and remission of sins the law is about the imputation of sin and guilt and condemnation

the reason I’m saying this is it depends on which doctrine your looking at the Old Testament or new .

the things Jesus taught us in the gospel will judge every living soul whether they accept it or reject it will determine whether they are forgiven in him or if they will stand on thier own come judgement day bearing all the sin they wouldnt repent of

Jesus word is this word if we receive it

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And this word also the same word if we reject it

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:48-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus is the savior the lamb who gave his life indeed but he is also e eternal judge of every living soul he died to save . And he has clearly declared eternal life and invites anyone young old wise , foolish male female white black Israeli gentile to hear and believe him and be saved from the condemnation to come upon all sinners

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Old Testament tells us we’re all sinners , the New Testament invites us to repent and believe and be saved from death which is the wage of sin

If we let go of other doctrines and lay hold of the doctrine of Christ we will be led out of sin now before it’s too late

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

why ?

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And so

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He’s giving us time to repent and be forgiven before the judgement because he doesn’t want us to perish . we can send our sins ahead now repenting and being forgiven or carry them with us adding to them for later and pretend we’re not sinning when deep down we understand we are

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

If we are honest with god about our sins he’s faithful to forgive us and cleanse us as if we’d never sinned at all , if we make reasons why we dont need to stop sinning or pretend we aren’t or pretend we’re not going to be held accountable we will never come to repentance and have thy owe sins remitted from n that case we’re going to go to judgement and have no excuse

Could you clarify what you mean when you say Peter was "sealed" with the Spirit?
I think we all have the indwelling Spirit, and we have the ability to do whatever the Spirit allows us to do.

Could have Ananias and Sapphira committed the unpardonable sin since they lied to the Holy Spirit? I don’t know. Thoughts?

But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

Instant judgement is ongoing in this life as a Christian.

I believe that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a different sin, to that of telling a lie.

He did lie to the Holy Spirit but people are lying all the time and pilfering churches and the poor. What made it different from Peter who was an apostle filled with the Holy Spirit and a modern day pastor who also believe they have the Holy Spirit? Surely the pastors of today are lied to also.

I can't say for sure; but, I bet this isn't the first time this guy tried to swindle somebody.

Peter said that Satan filled his heart to lie to the Holy Ghost. IMO, IOW, this guy was completely sold out to Satan already and had already told God to get out of his life, get lost, take a hike- and he was doing this thing as an enemy of God-trying to infiltrate the Church, sow discord, do false teaching etc.

So, I don't think this was "instant judgement" so to speak; but rather, the last straw.

Even in the OT, that guy, whatever his name was, that was pulling out of this lady he was supposed to be giving a baby to be an heir for his brother- it's not like he got just one chance; he kept doing it and knew exactly what he was doing. It was greed; and he was testing God. That's what I believe anyway, because I don't think the Lord is ever just like "Oh, you sinned, time to die." It doesn't work that way.

amen he is with us

“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God:

and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”

even in the OT this only happened a handful of times over the span of a few thousand years.

i think the obvious conclusion is that what happened in this event was something extraordinarily evil; it's not just someone pretending they have less money than they do.

Peter calls it a "conspiracy" - Acts 5:9.
there's more going on here than meets the eye. who else is involved in this? what were they trying to accomplish? why?
