Just even getting to church can be a mission. I am grateful to have a car, but if didnt have one, getting around or rides from everyone would be hard and plus you cant do many jobs without one.

being on the same path with someone is easier in a small town where there is literally just one main street but if you live in a maze or labrinyth of a city everyone is going in different directions

Recently I was dating a woman who I met at a Christian function who was a new Christian. I am a bit more mature in my faith and as time went on it became apparent that she was just not quite on the same path that I was on. I thought in the beginning that I could come alongside her and help her grow spiritually, but it did not turn out that way.
After that experience I realized I needed to be more discerning about dating and any potential partner should be rooted and grounded in her Christian faith because that is the basis of my life and if we are to grow together it will have to be the basis of hers as well.
A lot of people will say, "I am a Christian" then go out and get drunk, fornicate, cheat on their taxes, go around telling lies, be stingy, etc. We can all be tempted to sin. But if we are looking for a marriage partner we should try to find someone who walks circumspectly, someone who would be a good mother to our future children (or good father if a woman is doing the looking.)

so many 'christian men' fornicate and think its normal that they resent christian women for not fornicating with them on sight.
Then everyone acts surprised when the women fall pregnant. Hello.

Becase of course the christian women dont do any birth control as they dont know about it. Nobody has told them especially when they are young because its taboo to talk about it in church.

The weird thing I have read about, especially in american christian literature (I come across this in many many books in the church library) is how common it is for rich christians to cheat on their taxes.

But then I read that if you are a company in the US and register it in Delaware, you dont pay any taxes at all. And that is seen as a GOOD thing in the US, not to fund anyone other than your own self. Who cares about those in poverty that may need hospitals, schools, roads, libraries, clean water and electricity.

I think Jesus saying my yoke is easy, and my burden is light, really means that we are to be yoked with Him.

This does not mean you totally forget about Jesus and go and find a christian marriage partner and hurry to be yoked with them which its seems so many people have done, and then years later they start complaining how hard it is to be married.

Children, especially unwanted children know when they are unwanted by their own parents and seen as a burden. Especially if that child is weak, has health issues, or simply extra to requirements.

I was watching this doco called the Dropbox, about how in Korea young mothers dump their babies at church in a dropbox because they cannot look after them. Often these babies have something medically wrong with them and they just cannot afford to look after them

its always seems to be taken out of context, its not referring to relationships but fellowship.
Some relationship you cannot avoid, esp if you became a christian AFTER your got married and your spouse didnt.
You can fellowship through sharing money or provision with someone. You can fellowship through having Holy Communion. How narrow do you think the term fellowship is?

isnt fellowship walking in the light as says on John

I suppose if you keep a relationship in the dark, that is not fellowship, thats just having an affair or not being honest. I dont know, what do you think.

Someone I knew in high school who was a devout Christian married a Muslim woman.
After being married to her for several years, his views on Christianity became more and more watered down and his involvement with church activities had become significantly less.
Being equally yoked isn't a casual piece of advice. But a solemn warning for a believer's own good.

Marriage is a yoke, true, but religion is also a yoke. Yoga literally means to yoke.

I am not sure why many people think or believe marriage is way more important than staying faithful to God.

Fellowship translates κοινωνία (koinwnia). It can be understood was common-union, fellowship, sharing.

Isn't fellowship just another name or term for friendship. Just a bit more formal language.

We don't really talk about fellowships with people, but if you say friendships with people or others, everyone understands what you talking about.

Maybe its just religious jargon or old school Bible langauge to say 'fellowship'. I don't know what other non-kjv bibles might say, maybe they do use the word friendship.

The Greek word koinonia can be rendered 'common union' , 'fellowship', 'sharing', 'participation.'

When we partake of Holy Communion, we share, together, in the body and blood of Christ. A church could share with Paul in his ministry by giving to support him in terms of material needs.

Partaking of food in an idols temple, according to Paul in I Corinthians 10, is having fellowship with demons.

are you catholic...other christians just call it the Lords supper or eucharist which means thanksgiving

hmm what about having food in mammons temple eg the food court in the mall. I ate some wicked wings the other day. My (christian) friend insisted we have KFC for her birthday. She said 'oh but you want healthy food?' but we said no we will have whatever you want its YOUR birthday. She was the one who wanted KFC. So that is what we had.

Fellowship with demons? She did pray over the food though.

I dont quite understand. Most churches dont really do birthday meals,or they just have potlucks.

'Communion' is what I hear most among Evangelical churches in the US. You can read I Corinthians 10, where Paul asks isn't the bread participation/fellowship/communion with the body of Christ.

If you consider the mall food court to be a temple, you shouldn't eat there. I don't.

I dont live in the US. They use a lot of strange words in the US and British christians think american churches are weird and wacky. Televaneglists ave a very bad reputation as huscksters in the US, as churches have become commericalised...thanks to The purpose driven movement.

But then NZ has Gloriavale, the Exclusive Brethren, and Australia has...Hillsong

Mammon has to live somewhere right. I thought he would be at home in a mall.

I had a job in a mall once and the owner of course wanted to make a profit. I had no choice it was either have a job that paid minimum wage or have a job that didnt pay anything and starve.

Calling it Communion is some specific scripture behind it. I find it odd if someone who goes to church has never heard of 'Communion' or 'Holy Communion.' You can find 'communion' in Calvin's writings. NT Wright uses the term in Anglicanism.
