Can We All Find our Soulmate Somewhere In Between Dodging Zombies at Halloween and Fruitcake at Christmas?

Hey Everyone,

For those of you who've been around the forum for a while, you'll know that just about every year, we get threads asking whether it's evil to celebrate Halloween and Christmas.

We hadn't seen any yet this year, but fortunately, someone was kind enough to dig up an old thread just in time!

The general consensus here in Singles seems to go something like this (I just grabbed the first two answers from this old thread -- feel free to peruse the rest there):

There's at least one, often two or three, new threads on this subject every October.

I always felt whether or not to celebrate holidays is up to your own conscience. If you feel it's wrong, don't do it. If you're ok with it, go for it.

But as always there are people who can't grasp the idea that there Are some things that are subjective to the individual and instead feel the need to force their view on everyone else.

I personally think it's all about choice, intent, and action.

If something bothers someone's conscience, don't celebrate or participate in it -- easy peasy.

A church I was part of turned Halloween into an event they called the Hallow Him Fall Festival instead.

Members decorated their cars, set up a Trunk'O'Treat in the church parking lot, and all kids, whether part of the church or neighborhood, were invited to dress up, get candy at the various stations, and learn about Jesus at the same time.

And another member kindly reminded us that:

well, we are past due for a new soulmate thread.

And so, I figured, why not roll all 3 together and knock out 3 of the most cyclical and widely debated subjects on the forum all in one thread!!!

So everyone...

Do YOU think you'll find your soulmate somewhere in between the Zombie Apocalypse and trying to avoid the Christmas Crusades?!

(This thread is just for fun and laughs -- I know lots of people who are struggling today, aside from it being a Monday, so please bless us with your most creative/funny answers if you dare!)

I'm sorry. I cannot participate in this thread because you used the f word in the title. That junk is neither fruit nor cake. It is best used as building material.

Fast fact, scientists have discovered the shelf life of that stuff is longer than the life of the shelf.

I seem to have the gift of derailment, so my suggestion was not made to protect the integrity of the thread. I'm merely looking to find new ways to repurpose my collection. One needs only so many paper weights and doorstops.

I chucked out the fruitcake in the fridge that had been there I dont know how many years ...its gone to the bottom of the garden where it may grow some fruits of whatever was in it if the seeds were in there too

I like fruitcake .. In fact, I thought I bought one earlier this year (Oops, it would have been late last year), but after
checking in my fridge, I see it was best before August of last year so I must have bought it in December of 2021 .

Another use for fruitcake - it could be the next level after atomic bombs. Accelerate them to relativistic velocities and they could do some serious damage on impact. As few as 20 fruitcakes accelerated to .95c could take out all of Russia.

Actually fruitcake is a wonderful holiday treat. You soak the dried fruit in dark rum, (don't skip this step), then after the cake has cooled, wrap it tightly in cheesecloth soaked in medium sherry or triple sec. Happy Holidays🥳 (recipe from World's Best Fruitcake')lol.

Panettone is a Christmas fruit cake from Italy. No Marzipan, but still quite lovely.

The latter two are not as dense in fruit as how North Americans make fruit cakes.
