This is a truth that carnal religion cant receive, because its a stranger to the Grace of God to sinners through Jesus Christ. However the Elect of God, those Chosen in Christ before the foundation, both old test and new test believers, were Justified before God, before faith, while ungodly in themselves, by the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. First of all, Christ came into the world on their behalf to fulfill all the Righteousness of the Law for them. Paul writes on that here Rom 8:3-4

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Abel obtained witness that he was righteous when Abel brought his offering by faith ... read about that in Genesis 4.

In Romans 4:3, we read about God imputing righteousness to Abraham because Abraham believed in the Lord ... read about that in Genesis 15.

The words "they which receive" are translated from the Greek word lambanō which means actively lay hold of to take or receive," to lay hold by aggressively (actively) accepting what is available ... emphasizes the volition (assertiveness) of the receiver - HELPS Word-studies.

in context, Romans 3:24 tells us the gift of God's grace is bestowed upon those who believe ... those who do not suppress the truth in unrighteousness ... when God reveals His truth to them.

Those who suppress the truth in unrighteousness when God reveals truth to them do not benefit from God's grace ... they receive the consequence of their unbelief (Rom 1:18-32).


Galatians 3:

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

in context, Galatians 3:13 tells us that those who seek to be justified through keeping the law will never be justified because no man is justified by the law in the sight of God.

God never intended the law to be a means of justification.

God's intention was that the law reveal mankind's need for the Redeemer and that the promise is received through faith in the Redeemer.

Continue reading in Galatians 3 and in vs 24 we read Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

If a person suppresses the truth in unrighteousness when God reveals His truth to him or her, he or she receives the consequence of his or her decision to reject God's truth:

nope ... your premise is wholly without Scriptural merit. Throughout the whole of Scripture ... from Genesis to Revelation, God has established that He imputes righteousness to those who believe.

Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Abel obtained witness that he was righteous when Abel brought his offering by faith ... read about that in Genesis 4.

In Romans 4:3, we read about God imputing righteousness to Abraham because Abraham believed in the Lord ... read about that in Genesis 15.





Scripture tells us righteousness is imputed when a person believes.

Here are the verses in Romans chapter 4 in which the Greek word logizomai (which means "imputed") is used:

How many times does God have to tell you that He imputes righteousness to those who believe before you will believe that God imputes righteousness to those who believe???

And in Romans 5:17 ... your stated verse:

Romans 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive [lambanō] abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

The words "they which receive" are translated from the Greek word lambanō which means actively lay hold of to take or receive," to lay hold by aggressively (actively) accepting what is available ... emphasizes the volition (assertiveness) of the receiver - HELPS Word-studies.
