In heaven we will have a body of flesh and blood. Very interesting because angels can take on human form

Luke 4:28-30
And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up, and thrust Him out of the city, and led Him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast Him down headlong.
But He passing through the midst of them went His way
I would call this passage a bit... underdeterminative.
: )

But I agree with your other points on the issue.
Appearing in the upper room does not prove, or require, immateriality.
(We don't want to be gnostics.)

Hope you've been well.

i don't dispute your assessment but i affirm my preferred interpretation =]

imagine what it looked like, to happen - in any case, physically miraculous - even if only in the sense of incalculably improbable :geek:

1 Corinthians 15 touches on the resurrection spiritual body after comparing heavenly, or celestial, bodies such as that of the sun, the moon, the stars, with that of the earthly bodies such as that of men, animals, birds, and fish describing one as corruptible and the other incorruptible and cites scripture that is written, "The first man Adam became a living being (Genesis 2:7)," and contrasts that with "the last Adam a life-giving spirit." So if we compare splendors, here, we see that the first's life was caused to be (or passive something o rother) but the last Adam's life causes to live (active). IOW, it appears that the first's life came from without (breathed into), and the last's came from within (breathed out?), which is most definitely another degree of splendor of an higher level.

47The first man was made from the dust of the earth, but the second man came from heaven. 48Everyone on earth has a body like the body of the one who was made from the dust of the earth. And everyone in heaven has a body like the body of the one who came from heaven. 49Just as we are like the one who was made out of earth, we will be like the one who came from heaven.
50My friends, I want you to know that our bodies of flesh and blood will decay. This means they cannot share in God's kingdom, which lasts forever. 51 I will explain a mystery to you. Not every one of us will die, but we will all be changed. 52It will happen suddenly, quicker than the blink of an eye. At the sound of the last trumpet the dead will be raised. We will all be changed, so we will never die again. 53Our dead and decaying bodies will be changed into bodies that won't die or decay. 54 The bodies we now have are weak and can die. But they will be changed into bodies that are eternal. Then the Scriptures will come true,

“Death has lost the battle!
55 Where is its victory?
Where is its sting?”

1 Corinthians 15
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

2 bodies… In heaven we will be in one of these two bodies. There is no third body. And you will not be in both. Am I missing something here?

You are equating reference to the celestial body as the same as the reference to the spiritual body. Celestial bodies are the sun, moon, and stars, which are physical. And reference to the spiritual body does not necessarily mean there is a change in that train of thought. Although I think it reasonable to conclude that the spiritual body is superior to the natural body, as it is "further clothed," but I do not believe there is sufficient warrant to assume it is referring to a 'nonphysical' body.

Of course….
There is a natural body and spiritual.
There is a terrestrial and a celestial

You must equate them, if you don’t, you will have three bodies, and we were told time and time again there are only two.

But notice:
epouranios: of heaven
Original Word: ἐπουράνιος, ον
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: epouranios
Phonetic Spelling: (ep-oo-ran'-ee-os)
Definition: of heaven
Usage: heavenly, celestial, in the heavenly sphere, the sphere of spiritual activities; met: divine, spiritual.

As you can see the very nature of the word “celestial” equates itself with spiritual.

Do you believe the sun is spiritual?

Correct. The spiritual body is not a non-physical spirit-body. It is called the spiritual body because the Holy Spirit is involved in receiving it. It is an immortal body much like the one Christ rose with.

Wouldn’t that mean we have a 1) flesh body
2) spiritual physical body 3) a celestial body?

You’re funny…. No..
I think that the comparison of celestial and terrestrial bodies is meant to demonstrate the difference in glory of the natural and spiritual bodies. After all, the Earth can be considered as much a celestial body, existing within the 'heavens' as much as terrestrial in a category of its own.

Fair enough… But that creates problems within the literature, does it not.

The sun neither has flesh or blood. Nor does it have the ability to put on immortality..

Rev 22
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Although scientist tell me so, there's really no way that I can tell if the sun has a lifespan so I really can't speculate or even comment on that. Nor can I even imagine the design for the world to come, only that it is relatively permanent in comparison to this temporal one I am currently sojourning in.

Understood…. But it would seem that the sun will no longer exist, since there will be no night, we have no need for it.

5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

If true, it has a lifespan….

Right, the elements will melt away so everything seems to be perishable (and that is reflected by the concept of atrophy), so must put on incorruption in order to withstand the meltdown.

What makes Christ risen body an immortal flesh be will have?
