Revelation 1:14-16
21st Century King James Version
14 His head and His hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 and His feet like unto fine brass, as though they burned in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And He had in His right hand seven stars, and out of His mouth went a sharp twoedged sword, and His countenance shone as the sun shineth in his strength

There is a lot of symbolism in there, much, if not all, of which is explained elsewhere in scripture, so I do not believe that what you quoted was meant to be understood literally.

For example, do you honestly believe that Jesus has a sharp two-edged sword coming out of his mouth?

That "sword" is the word of God.

Jesus was physically plain-looking. Not ugly, but not handsome either.

Isaiah 53:1 Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

....Which is a good thing so that we're not following Him around for all the wrong, shallow reasons.

I do not understand why people take this verse and use it to suggest Jesus was black, have you ever seen brass? It's not black, or even close to the color of black skin. At all. Now before my straight forward way of communicating sounds racist to sensitive ears, Jesus wasn't a white skinned man either, at all. I imagine Jesus looked a LOT like the middle eastern Jews do still. A golden brown color, much closer to the color of the banner under the picture of some black guy.

There is nothing there about black skin. The Jews of Jesus' day were light skinned (some outdoor workers were tanned). Jesus is not African American but he isn't Hawaiian, Chinese or American Indian either etc.

After rereading my comment here I kind of sounded like I was addressing the op or something said, but I was honestly only addressing that illustration. Honestly I don't care if Jesus was aquamarine, He's still my (everyone's, but I'm only addressing myself here) King. I have just engaged with this debate before outside of CC, I didn't mean to come across like I was saying this to anyone who commented and wanted to make sure that was clear. I hope you all have a great day.

He had no stately form or majesty to attract us, no beauty that we should desire Him.
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. Like one
from whom men hide their faces, He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.

The Shroud of Turin has His image at the last moment of death as the Glory of the Father flashed within His body and raised Him back to life. His image on the Shroud is somewhat disfigured and swollen in places because of the torture and falling while carrying the cross. There is some distortion since the cloth did not lay entirely evenly on His body. Yet it shows us what He looked like before or as He was raised.

Some excellent portrayals of His face from the Shroud have been done to show what various artists have come up with from the Shroud. You can do a bing search on jesus face images from shroud of turin to see many life-like images.

Actually this is a good question. What was Jesus's physical appearance like?
Gaunt or heavy set?
Olive complexion?
Chin and nose?
Cheeks?
Height?
Hair color?
What color eyes?
Eyebrows?
Beard?
Barrel chested or hunched?

All these things together create a physical picture of what we look at when we see a man.

And....if you carefully read the ENTIRE Old Testament AND you can understand themes and contextual clues....there is a description available for how a person could recognize the Messiah when He would come walking by....

And detailing these out here would be impossible...it's entire series of books of detailing how and why these details mattered in the whole Old Testament.

The funniest part that people don't really understand is the whole beard thing.

When I had to quarantine and stopped working and going to church I stopped shaving....where I always have had a mustache and grew a chin beard for my wife I went to a full beard for the pandemic (I looked like Santa)
Then I needed to lose the beard and shave cleanly for the bakery/coffeeshop partnership. (Long before so we could get property and equipment and etc)
And after the 40 minutes I spent scraping my face my wife said she couldn't look at me anymore because of the stranger in her house who was using my voice.

So yes, beards matter more than you think.

Hi bless you. If you were living back then and you were shown "white". How would you then describe it to others? :) A sheep white as snow. Its not hair. The feet of the finest burnished, fire-refined, bronze such as we used in censers for incense. Now some believe that this bronze instead of being the ordinary alloy of copper and tin was an alloy of copper and gold. So as you look into this.. you will not know.

There is no picture on this earth that looks like the great I am or Christ. Where told not to do that. Christ rose and then was walking I think just behind two men and they didn't know who He was. Granted He hid himself from them but to just touch that, ever wonder why he did that? I heard one say because He wanted them to see HIM through out His word Torah where He is EVERYWHERE in it. Its ALWAYS about faith huh

Man is still trying to make God in mans image. The fact in Samuel God said "man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”. Fulfilling scripture. There are things of this world that are no where in heaven.

I have noticed that the black people are highly exalting themselves in todays society.

They think that black skin in the Bible means the Jews were black but it was actually a condition of despair, and suffering, described as black skin, like a person is red with anger, and blue with depression.

Like the scripture my skin is black because of the famine, but why would their skin be black because of the famine if they were born black.

And then the black people who believe they are the true Jews from the tribe of Judah, and then say indigenous peoples, and Latinos, are the other tribes, and then have a list of all the tribes and who belongs to which tribe.

But they would not know that, and would never be able to figure it out, if they were really the tribes, but they are making it up.

Also black people did not come across the notion that they were Jews until not too long ago, and the indigenous people knew nothing about Israel and their ways, the same as the Latinos.

But if they make up the 12 tribes how did they forget everything about what the traditions were, and their teachings, and the Bible, but they forgot it all and nothing was passed down, not even an inkling, just all gone.

And if the black people are the true Jews how come all the pictures you see of the Nazi concentration camps you do not see any black people, or did Hitler not really persecute the Jews but somebody else.

People are too much in to wanting to exalt themselves so they are ready to believe anything to exalt themselves.

Like England saying the throne of David moved to England giving them the God given right to rule the world, and we are the descendants of David.

I guess England and the black people are going to have to battle this one out.

God is white, no he is black, Jesus is white, no he is black, and on and on it goes with people wanting to exalt themselves, and to exalt whatever ethnic group, or nation they belong to say we are special.

I have seen many black people who claim they are Jews being mean to other people saying you will all be our slaves with the God is going to get you attitude instead of love, and forgiveness, and even going against the Asians saying you will be our slaves.

That does not sound like a good attitude but one of bitterness, and revenge.

Rev 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
Rev 1:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
Rev 1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
Rev 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

Also this is describing Jesus in the spiritual not the physical, and it says nothing about black skin.

His countenance was as the sun which is bright not dark, but this is spiritual not physical.

I have seen the Lord, I saw His hands and His feet, the crown of thorns, the stripes the wound in His side. I saw His shekinah glory.
His eyes are deep pools of fire, when He looks at you you want to flee but you dare not so much as blink, when He looks away your heart yearns and longs just to look into those eyes again.

He is altogether lovely, majestic. No artist could ever capture His likeness.

It was almost 70 years ago that I saw Him and walked and talked with Him. Pre school, just a little boy and although I could not read or write I was able to quote large swathes of John's gospel to my astonished parents.

That long ago and still fresh on your mind and heart huh? I know the feeling, even after only 10 years.

My experience was different in His presence. I was 33 years old and found myself on my face with the tears flowing from my eyes, as I had them squeezed shut as hard as I could, it was like I was being crushed by His righteousness. I felt just how unworthy I truly was in every cell. I know it sounds horrible, but I wouldn't ever trade that feeling for everything. I didn't dare to even open my eye's let alone think about looking up at Him. This was right after the first time that I heard and truly understood exactly what price Jesus paid on the cross for us, that He took every bit of the Fathers righteous and just wrath that we deserve, and did so to fulfill His perfect justice so that Jesus perfect Righteousness could be justly applied to us so we could be reconciled to Him, resurrecting's us spiritually and reconnecting our spirits to His again as we were created to be. All glory to Jesus name. I had been born again a few weeks before this experience and was in the "absorbing everything I could get my hands on about God" mode at this point. Still is the single most amazing thing I've ever experienced in my life and like it was yesterday.

Also this is describing Jesus in the spiritual not the physical, and it says nothing about black skin.

His countenance was as the sun which is bright not dark, but this is spiritual not physical.
It's not just black people but everyone who exalts themselves as the original Israelites .I really believe that the DNA of the original Israelite's is spread out among the nations. And that the original Israelites were black. But that not all black people were/are Israelite's.
We all go back to Adam and Eve, and the Israelite's of the OT were not picked because they were superior in anyway. In fact they were chosen by God because they were the weakest among the nations.
God choose them as a remnant of the descendants of Adam and Eve.They were of the water, and we, the gentiles are of the blood.
Together we are one.

If you look with your eyes the things of the world that are created by God,then you should see your spiritual eyes also. And they will testify as one,and declare it as truth.
This is the biggest reason why I believe black people were the original Israelite's of the OT.
It's the hair. Our hair is the image of the curtain veil. And Jesus is behind the veil because he is the head of the Church.
The hair itself is the water and the blood. When you split your hair, what you are doing is splitting the curtain veil.
How do you split your hair? From the top.The same way the curtain veil was split.
Splitting the hair allows you to see, physically.
Spiritually it is the same.Because the veil is torn.Without the Spirit, water and the blood, you are blind to the things of the Spirit.

A black persons hair is like a olive tree. When it is grown out it is like a olive tree weighed with fruit.

John 1:23
“He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.”

The grafting in of the gentiles is the same way.The fruits make our hair straight.Get it?What is physical is also in the spiritual.
The Israelite's of the OT did mingle with those around them, and their hair made straight.

By the time of Jesus his looks would have been of the nations. So he wasn't black. And he wasn't white.

Not only that.We went from Adam.Meaning Son of the red earth.
To Eve.Meaning life!

Luke 11:36
So if your whole body is full of light, with no part of it in darkness, you will be radiant, as though a lamp were shining on you.”

From dark skin of the OT(water) to the light skin of the NT(blood).I'm sure saying that will bother some people.

Not only that.We went from Adam.Meaning Son of the red earth.

Adam does not mean that. It means human being. The word comes from a root word that means ruddy or red but that is a different word. Mixing definitions from root words is known as root fallacy.

H120
אָדָם
'âdâm
aw-dawm'
From H119; ruddy, that is, a human being (an individual or the species, mankind, etc.): - X another, + hypocrite, + common sort, X low, man (mean, of low degree), person.
Total KJV occurrences: 541

Green is the origin or root of the word, red is the definition, purple are the translation choices. Never mix them up.
