Wasn't it men who voted to give women the vote, out of a sense of benevolence? Men gave women the vote.

I don't know how the wife-beating drunks voted, if at all.
I think it was pretty close as lots of men resented women having the vote and tried to stop them.

Men seem to leave wives for no reason if its not adultery they just leave them by themselves and think they will be fine with the children on their own.

Sometimes they come back but often work pulls them away and wives cant always follow or work with their husbands.

It dont think many husbands kick their wives out but I have heard of husbands having affairs and when the wife finds out she just changes the locks. Since the adulterer obviously has somewhere else to go/stay.

Overall, has women getting the vote been a good thing for society? In the US, first they voted in prohibition, a constitutional amendment, which was really overkill, and an extreme conservative measure. Then the pendulum swings and liberal women push for abortion and things like that. A lot of politicians with libertine stances rely on the votes of left-wing women as a voting block. I wonder if the Overton window in a lot of countries would be in a better place if the women's suffrage woman had not taken place.

I do not see a reason to think that God demands democracies, everyone having a vote, etc. So for me, I just think in terms of political outcomes when it comes to this issue.

Government by popular vote was never supported by the Bible anyway. So if we're going to do it that way, might as well let women in on it too. It's no less unbiblical than men voting.

I think it helps women esp from being destitute which women were often treated as no better or worse than animals by men. Women being physically weaker or shall we say finer than men need protecting but when a man doesnt protect a woman she often has to cope on her own. I think having a vote or say is important it shows 'society' values women.

Women have a voice too and can always keep silent, that is why they cry more than men.

Children ought to have vote too! They are part of 'society' are they not or should they just be seen and not heard?

You can choose to vote or not, having a choice is important. Not being able to vote at all or being disenfranchised is horrible.

Imagine if society banned men from voting!

Men push for abortion too. They dont want the take on the responsibilty of children so dont just blame women for it. It takes two to make a baby

A politician in a country with a lot of children could win elections by promising free candy at school. Children lack the good sense to have a say in the vote, which is why they are excluded. 18 might be a bit young. How about 30 or 40?

how about you restrict voting to just you, and you the only one who can vote as you are the only one who has any good sense right?

Shoot, free candy would get MY vote! Then I'd go to college to be a math teacher. :D

They'd have to make me King or Emperor and pay me a salary.

It was in response to what someone said in another thread. It seemed worth it's own thread.

I am also grieved to see the large number of divorces and remarriages, especially among church people.

I can't think of a male-dominated political group that pushes for it in the US, unless one considers the Democrat party to be a male-dominated political group.

Or no Biblical, IMO. So considering historical outcomes of female participation in the vote is a valid way of considering the issue.... which isn't the topic of this thread, btw.

It is now, at least for a time. Are you new here? :p Threads are conversations, and the topic might go from chocolate to abortion to helicopters in the same page.
